*Asher's POV*

This was perfect. Just us, sitting on the same park bench we've been sitting on since we were toddlers. The sky was radiant, glowing a raspberry -orange color that complemented the whole park. And when I say the whole park, I mean her because she's the only thing I'm concerned with right now.

Her ebony skin looked like pure smooth chocolate under the sun's soft rays. Her kinky black hair was blowing backwards in the breeze. The sight was serene. She sat upright with her knees to her chest and her arms around, hugging herself as if she was the only thing to hold onto. Her eyes were locked on me and she smiled as the low sun rays kissed her face. She is absolutely stunning. I won't deny it. I've watched her grow from toddler to teenager to a young woman. I know who she is and how she acts, and she knows me just as well. She is my best friend and as best friends may sometimes do, we are actually arguing right now about the most nonsensical thing you can think of.

"I don't see what is so funny! This is carbohydrate-cruelty!" I exclaim.

"No it is not! That chip has less life than our World History II teacher!" She whips around on the bench we're sitting on so that she is facing me with her arms crossed.

"He does not! If you ask me, Awesome Sweatshirt is overdue for cremation." I say slyly with a smirk and I stretch my arms behind my head, leaning back resting my head in my hands.

"First of all, Awesome Sweatshirt serves a purpose which is to keep me warm. That chip does nothing but rot on your dresser." She sighs then leans her head on my shoulder and I feel a slight chill run down my spine, but I shake it off.

"Whatever, if you even think about throwing him away, that damn sweatshirt will never see the light of day again. "

She laughs. This is an art I have mastered to perfection. Being able to make people laugh is something known about me as soon as you hear my name, which is Asher by the way. But when she laughs it's so cute I can't function. She'll laugh regularly for a while, but if something is REALLY funny, she'll snort and get embarrassed then stop laughing altogether. That just makes me wanna see her laugh more, it's so dang adorable! She checks her phone for the time, which is probably around 6 since it's the fall.

"Well Wryly, I guess it's time to call it quits. " She begins packing her backpack and calls her sister at home telling her we're on our way and asking what's for dinner. That reminds me, I don't think I learned anything from this study session...Oh! And I don't think my mom's coming home for dinner tonight. It's what single women over 35 with kids call, Ladies Night, or how it's truly expressed, "Find Potential Husband Night." Me being the absent minded idiot that I am, I look around and see Ravyn halfway down the street. I grab my books and run in her direction to catch up.

"Hey! It's not nice to ditch people in Parks at night! I could've been caught by a predator! "

"Well, I said come on Asher. You were daydreaming in Asher-Land so I kept walking."

"Well, what are we having for dinner?" I asked putting my arm around her shoulder and pulling her close to me. Strangely, there is a warmer feeling coming from the contact between our bodies. The feeling is oddly foreign, but strangely comforting.

"Uhm. We, as in the Estelle's are having pizza. The Wryly menu is to be announced. " she says this in her sassy tone that she always uses and chuckles. This isn't funny. Sure I may come over a little often and maybe stay for dinner a few times but c'mon! She knows I like pizza.

"Aww c'mon Ravyn! You know I love pizza, let me come over!" I plead to her with my hands together and make the most pathetic puppy face I can make. She looks up to me and stares me straight in the eye. A few moments pass and I take the opportunity to admire her unique violet eyes.
