Chapter 5: Magick is Natural

Amethyst's POV

This is Magick History. Once again we were reviewing the tragic history of the "Dark Age" and "Arawa" and why all of the magickal beings are so scattered about the galaxy.

First is Centaurus A, this is the galaxy where all the magick animalistic beings live in solitude. Centaurus A was our first ever magickal world, it's filled with centaurs, gryphons, manticores, and other spirit animals.

One day, the humans came there in search of a new life support system and the Centaurs, the kings of magick, taught them the ways of magick and how to channel it through magickal stones called Gems. Gems can only channel one type of magic at a time. So, when humans began to reproduce, they started to implant humans with gems at birth. They lived as one and the animals taught them all elements of druid magick, which is simply commanding the four elements to maintain life and to protect.

A man called Greedus became unsatisfied with the simple magick that the animals produced. The elements, earth, water, fire, and air, were too consistant and he wanted more variety. Eventually, he created a magick that did not require the placement of gems and was natural. Greedus' strange magick spread to all human knowledge and soon women stopped putting gems in their children. Word of this strange magick spread to the animals and eventually to the Centaur Kings. They took this act as disrespect and conspiracy and exhiled all humans from Centaurus A and Greedus was hung by the gallows.

This is when the humans began to separate themselves. Some believed them being exhiled was fate and that this was their chance to start over. The others believed this was obviously a warning that if they continued to stray from tradition a far worse punishment was coming. A consensus couldn't be made and the humans who believed in the omen settled in a new galaxy called Centaurus B.

The followers of Greedus settled in a galaxy called Comet. This world is now filled with archmages, conjurers, wizards, mancers, prophets, warlocks, and witches.

Next is Milky Way. Our galaxy, which was created by High Priestess Obsidian, my grandmother. She created Milky Way for all magick users, ALL magick users. Soon Milky Way was filled with open minded conjurers, enchanters, druids, warlocks, witches, and even fortune tellers. All seemed well in the division of the four galaxies, but a war was going on between Centaurus A and Comet.

A new, powerful magick called Sorcery had been created by the followers of Greedus. The users of it seemed to acquire a dark, cold aura and have a chaotic greed for power. That alone caused a civil war and a divide in Comet. The "Omens", what they called the non-believers of sorcery, had put their pride and beliefs aside to ask the Centaur Kings for help. They secretly sent the best druids in the Omen to Centaurus A for help. The Sorcerers had soon learned of the conspiracy and began to prepare for battle. This was the beginning of the "Dark Age."

RIIIIIIINGGGG!

Asher's POV

Finally! I loathe history with a passion. We all know the story, and it's the most cliché, bullshittingest thing I've ever heard. Hey, I sound like Ravyn now. I wish she was in ALL of my classes. We take Mechanics of Numbers (math), Sparring, Study Hall, and Druidism together. But the twins took all of their enchanting classes already, and Ravyn added on a strengthening class herself. She hates that her gem is so weak, honestly I do too. I just don't get how she can be so strong and her magick still be weak. Everything is perfect about Ravyn, even when she fights: her form, her spells, the technique, even her speed! If only she put a little more force into her attacks.

It's study hall now, Ravyn should be in the library. She's been hanging out by herself a lot, that's my fault. I hope she'll be willing to talk to me.

Ravyn's POV

Let's see, I have a test tomorrow on fire druids. Their favored gems are topazes, rubies, and......fire opals.

"Why are you here Asher?" He has some nerve waltzing in here. We always goof off in study hall together, but he knows I'm mad at him. Ass.

"Ravyn, we need to talk. How long are you gonna avoid me?" He takes a chair next to me and I scoot over.

"Until you get the idea."

"What idea Ravyn!?"

SHHHH! Stupid librarian.

"What idea Ravyn?" He whispered.

"Ugh, nothing. Why don't you go study with Am and Lolita over there?" Now we're both whisper-yelling.

"Dammit Ravyn, what is it with you and Lolita? Why do you hate her?"

"I do not hate her!"

SHHHHH!

"I do not hate her. You know I don't get along well with her. You're supposed to be MY best friend and you just go and ditch me for her, how am I supposed to feel?" He stares at me and blinks his eyes.

"Jesus Ravyn it was one time! And I didn't try too! You act like I'm dating the girl or something!"

"Do you want too?" He freezes and stares into my eyes as if I've offended him.

"I-I n-no. She's nice but, not my type...why are you so concerned if I am dating Lolita!?"

"Because!" I get up and walk towards the exit, I can't take this anymore. How the hell can he not see that I.....that I..... dammit, I'm crying in public. I'm almost out the door.

SHHHHH!

"You shut the hell up woman!" Asher's outburst stopped me in my tracks, while gaining the attention of everyone in the library. Including my sister and her best friend.

"Asher, what are you doing?? You're gonna get detention! "

"You both will be in detention! 2 hours for both of you!" Yelled the angry librarian, so much for the no shouting rule huh Karen?

" Look, Ravyn I'm-....." he stops when sees me crying. "Ravyn, I..."

"Just stop! Okay! You've done enough already!" I take my detention slip and rush out of the library, ignoring the calls from my sister.

I walk out of school and call someone. I have to get out of here. Two rings later, I hear the voice I needed to hear.

"Hey, Ravy."

"Don't call me that Calixa, sniff.

"Whoa, I'm sorry. Don't cry, dude."

"No, just...can you come pick me up."

"You're at the hell house right?"

"Yeah, and hurry up." I hang up the phone and look back to find my sister running up to me.

"Rav, what's the matter? You've never cried...like this." I hold her hands and I crack the weakest smile.

"I just, I need some time to think Am." She gives me a knowing look.

"Ravyn, know this is about Asher." She looks down for a moment, considering her words. "Just tell him the truth, it's so obvious that you love each other."

"You don't know that."

"I don't know a lot of things, but I know you, and I know him..."

"And you know Lolita." I cut her off. She drops my hands and crosses her arms.

"You know he doesn't like her that way!"

"Do I Amethyst? Do I really?!" Cali pulls up honking her honk at me. "Look, I'll be back for detention, don't worry about me, alright." I get into the car and we drive off.

"So, where to?" Calixa asks. I think for a moment.

"Anywhere."
