Tyler and I haven't texted nor spoken much, despite seeing each other eye-to-eye twice a day. I mostly pretended to fall asleep in the car with Shanks on my lap. She made things less tense and awkward. And though Tyler and I had agreed to pretend the kiss never happened, the fact that we couldn't ignore it was making our friendship slowly fall apart.

It was the same cycle.

Good beginning. Great middle. Horrible end.

And it felt as if we were nearing a horrible end. Maybe not so horrible–but a slow end. But maybe that was better than going bat-shit crazy over our meaningless exchanges of "good morning" or "good night" stares.

Maybe it wasn't so horrible of an end. After all, I was keeping him safe from myself.

It felt harder to keep him safe than it was to hurt him.

Luckily since I was so caught up in my physical therapy, violin lessons, classwork and shopping for a Rave'N dress, I didn't find myself thinking about him too much. Though when I did, a weight of guilt reminded me that I shouldn't have kissed him.

At least it was comforting to know I couldn't hurt him though.

As of now, Enid was cutting my hair at the last second in her dorm.

"What's the impulse?" Enid asked. "You haven't cut your hair since we were eleven."

"I don't know, just do it," I said through my teeth nervously. "As short as you want."

I had to close my eyes as Thing helped Enid cut my hair. Wednesday watched from afar with slight amusement, which only caused me to worry.

After the sound of snipping and feelings of weight being pulled off my shoulders, I stood and looked in the mirror to see that my tailbone length hair was now cut to my shoulder blades. Though it wasn't a drastic change, it was a big deal to me as I clapped a hand over my mouth with disbelief.

"IT'S SO SHORT!" I exclaimed with a hysterical laugh. "Oh my- Enid, you cut it so short!"

"Don't blame me, you told me to cut away!" Enid said with a dying laughter at my reaction. She fell onto her bed with her legs crossed as Wednesday shook her head in disbelief and turned back to packing her bag.

Enid styled my hair–curling it inward with an iron curler. After that, I slipped on my white dress (which wasn't too much since I had limited time to shop.) It was a long, silk halter dress that hugged the chest and torso as it flowed down past my ankles. It had a revealing back, which I didn't think about before I cut my hair. Because of its length, I wore short heels to give myself some height.

Enid looked even more spectacular as I did as she left the dorm to find her date first. I began to think he was from another school if he wasn't familiar with Nevermore. Could she have possibly gone for a normie?

I was in Enid's locked closet as I kept on playing around with what jewelry to wear. It must've taken me ten minutes to figure out what I wanted when I finally stepped out of the closet and saw Wednesday at the door with the most beautiful dress on. It was black and tulle with gothic embroidery. Thing had done her hair up beautifully and despite the displeased frown on Wednesday's face, she looked stunning.

"You're going monster hunting in that?" I asked.

Wednesday seemed to snarl. "Don't even ask."

I laughed as she left the dorm room first. I guess there seemed to be a change of plans. But what about Eugene? Did that mean he was going to the dance?
