THE SKY WAS A BEAUTIFUL, TRANSLUCENT PURPLE, rose petals fell from the great Oak tree overlooking the training yard. Giviel, daughter of Ruthan, arced her training sword upwards, watching as it clashed against Prince Fíli's as Kíli cheered her on from the sidelines in jest. Her grin of triumph faltered momentarily when Fíli got the upper hand amidst her distraction.
"I've been meaning to ask if you planned on sneaking into the meeting later?" Fíli asked her as their swords locked against each other, and she managed to break free and slice outwards with hers.
She nodded as she relented. "I would not miss such a meeting for all the world. I take it our mothers will have our heads, but who could miss such a thing?"
Giviel turned and grabbed three tankards from the vendor in the corner and filled all three of them with delicious frosty ale, and handed one to Fíli and the other to Kíli. Both lads gave her an appreciative grin.
"I knew I liked you," Kíli teased, giving her an overly exaggerated wink. "I knew I liked her, Fíli. Giviel knows how a proper training is done!"
Fíli chuckled. "Yes, yes, Giviel is the best. Join those of us that already knew that." He drank deeply from his tankard, albeit more reserved than Kíli. "I quite agree our mothers might lock us up if they knew what we were planning, and as long as someone doesn't draw too much attention to us, I'm sure we'll manage just fine."
"That was one time," Kíli defended. "And I apologized for it a billion times."
"Go easy on him, Fíli," Giviel said. "We can't all be as sneaky as you," she added cheekily.
She drank from her own tankard and let out a wistful sigh. It was no secret that the rightful King Under the Mountain, Thorin Oakenshield, was to discuss reclaiming Erebor. Giviel was more than ready to aide her King in anyway she possibly could. She only hoped nobody would try to stop her from going. It was her right as much as it was Thorin's or the Prince's. It did not hurt that she would follow Fíli anywhere, most of all.
He does not know such a thing, and that's exactly where Giviel planned to keep it. She was no princess.
"Well, I will see you both at the meeting. I must get back or my mother will come searching for me before I can escape." She winked.

The meeting was held in one of the lower rooms in Ered Luin, which Giviel normally avoided like the plague. Underground was absolutely not where she liked to frequent. However, she'd be damned if she missed it. Especially after she promised Fíli and Kíli she'd be there.
Giviel followed closely behind Bofur, nearly falling over his heels as she tried not to call direct attention to herself. Bofur was happy to oblige. He pulled his hat higher on his head to hide her blonde, braided updo.
"Best be sitting in the back, lass," Bofur stage whispered, grinning from ear to ear as he lead her to a dark corner of the room, before disappearing with a wink towards his cousins, Bombur and Bifur.
"Well, I don't know if my entrance went quite that smoothly. Well done getting Bofur to help, Giviel." Fíli's quiet voice reached her ears and she turned around with a grin.
"It's not my fault he likes me more." She stuck her tongue out at him, before sitting down beside him. "I take it Kíli still hasn't arrived?"
She couldn't wait until he did. Giviel is quite sure Kíli will not enter as gracefully as his brother. It was usually entertaining.
Fíli sighed dramatically. "I tried getting him to enter with me so we could arrive stealthily, but he insisted someone had to throw mother off our trail. I suspect he will fail."
Her attention was claimed not a moment later as a loud clang rang out in the front of the room. Her eyes widened as Kíli stood there with that sheepish look on his face, with a massive stone pillar that held various weaponry toppled over. Giviel hid her smile as she ushered him over to her and Fíli.
"Couldn't resist being the loudest in the room, could you?" Giviel teased.
Kíli made a vulgar gesture and sat down in a huff, although a moment later his usual easygoing grin made its way back onto his face. Giviel shook her head. Boys, she thought. She was quite fond of them. She admired their ability to get back up, try again, even amidst people doubting their capabilities. Their smiles almost never faltered for long. It was an admirable quality. One she wasn't even sure she possessed.
Giviel opened her mouth to call Kíli a child when a hush fell over the meeting hall as Thorin Oakenshield entered. He was beautifully regal. Giviel had always thought so, and this moment was no different as he stood there, except there was a minuscule heaviness laid upon his shoulders. A man becoming the King he was always meant to be.
She did not envy those that hold the crown. It must be a heavy weight to bear.
