The Account of the Tourney of 105 AC: The Executions, The Tourney and a New Beginning
By Grand Maester GerardysThe day was bright and the weather was pleasant. The Tourney grounds were filled with Nobles from all across the seven kingdoms. As energetic and colourful, as the tourney grounds were, the massive pyre in the middle of the grounds was an eerie sight.
The unlit pyre was massive and lined with petrified Dragon eggs, as strange as the practice seemed when His Grace, King Viserys called for it, it has since become a practice for royal executions.
At noon, the royal box was filled with all royals, except the Master of War, Prince Daemon and the Master of Ships, Lord Corlys Velaryon who were at the Royal Harbour, preparing the Armies and the Fleet for the upcoming Invasion of the Stepstones.
At the announcement of the King, the traitors Otto Hightower, Hobert Hightower, Archmaester Robart and Septon Eustace were brought out and made to stand within the pyre.
With a whistle in the air, the Prince Daemon on Caraxes landed near the pyre. The Prince announced their executions. When Lord Hobert asked to take the Black, Prince Daemon refused them the choice, declaring on a royal decree that "No longer will traitors of the crown be allowed to escape their doom".
This Decree angered many lords of the realm, particularly the Starks, the Royces and the Blackwoods of First Men origin as they held the practice sacred. Still, their troubles were somewhat eased, when it was also declared that this decree only concerned the executions of the Crown and did not dictate executions of other nobles of the realm.
At Prince Daemon's command, Caraxes burned the Traitors and as they flailed around in pain screaming, Caraxes ripped half of Otto Hightower's body and ate it.
As the crowd watched in silence and horror, King Viserys declared, "Behold, the fate of traitors, the House of the Dragon gave their trust to the Hightowers, the faith and the Citadel.
But, this faith was betrayed, they killed my family, they killed my dragons and they shall face the consequences of their actions,
The Hightowers are henceforth, stripped of their command of the Houses Beesbury, Bulwer, Costayne, Cuy and Melendore. They will also be stripped of their title of the Defender of the Citadel.
Instead, the Hightowers, Bulwers, Costaynes, Cuys and Melendores will swear themselves to House Beesbury. The Crown shall take over the responsibilities of the Citadel.
The faith will no longer receive the patronage of the crown and neither will it be the official religion of the crown. Instead, all faiths whether they be Westerosi or Foreign, as long as they allow peaceful coexistence will be allowed to preach and practice all across the seven kingdoms, except the North and the Iron Islands, which will retain their worship of the Old Gods and the Drowned God, Respectively.
The Citadel's laws, funds and practices will be investigated thoroughly and changes will be brought to them."
The crowds were allowed to disperse for the day.
The next day, the Melee happened in the morning and was won by Ser Harwin Strong, Captain of the City Watch and the second runner was Ser Criston Cole.
The Joust happened after Lunch and was won by Ser Criston Cole, son of the steward of House Dondarrion and the second runner was Ser Arryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard.
Queen Aemma gave birth to a boy who stopped breathing a few moments after his birth and just when the Grand Maester was about to announce this tragedy to the prince's sister, the child cried out and asked to be taken by his sister. Hence the child's name came to be
Prince Baelon, the Resurrected. The Royal Armies abound the Velaryon fleet sailed away to begin the Invasion of the Stepstones.
Consequences of the events of the tourney
Prince Baelon was not named Prince of Dragonstone and Princess Rhaenyra was reassured as the heir to the Iron Throne, confirming Absolute Primogeniture as the law of hierarchy for the crown.
A Dragon egg was placed in Prince Baelon's cradle. The egg hatched into the most beautiful Dragon Westeros had yet seen, Sunfyre.
The invasion of the Stepstones was a success, the pirates and the Triarchy were cast out of the Stepstones.
The Stepstones were fortified and developments were started to integrate them into the rest of the Seven Kingdoms.
The Stepstones were taken as direct territories of the crown, with Prince Baelon being named Prince of Stepstones, and a castle being erected as his seat on Bloodstone.
Prince Daemon earned much glory in the war, by slaying the Admiral of the Triarchy Cragas Drahar, the Crabfeeder and capturing Prince Qoren Martell, heir to Dorne.
Prince Daemon was awarded by making his honorary title "Prince of the city" official, he was given command of the Gold cloaks and responsibility for the advancement and upkeep of the city.
Prince Qoren as a hostage ensured the neutrality of Dorne.
Balerion POV
Balerion could see the fruits of his work, he had succeeded.
He could see the lines of time renewed and since he was no longer needed here, he passed into them.
He saw many things as he passed through time,
"The House of the Dragon must stay united"
"All hail, Her Grace, Queen Rhaenyra"
"The Greatest Age of Dragons"
"The King Daeron is Dead, long live the King Baelor"
.
.
.
.
"You are my queen, now and always"Balerion broke out of the line, "What the hell, that, that, desolate swine, I'll rip his heart out"
And then he disappeared into the timeline swearing to set things right in another time.
