BLOOD RAIN

we were walking through the forest. hand in hand. there were meteorites falling from the sky. small. but.

"ah, fuck!" eli swore patting his arm furiously as his shirt caught fire momentarily.

i paused for a moment my eyes in shock. "are you okay-"

he pushes me from behind further into the forest. "just keep going sid don't look back," he grunts out.

we shuffled through the forest for what seemed like hours. but we ran most of the way. my mouth followed the stinging feeling of when one of the debris fell and kissed my skin.

it hurt.

"fuck didn't i tell you keep going?" elias shouts when i stumbled a little a few pieces stinging me through my shirt.

"shut the fuck up eli!" i shouted clutching my arm in pain.

he looked down at me with those crazy eyes he gets when he's frustrated or pissed. he yanks me up by the arm and practically drags me through the rain.

"it's happening," i said breathlessly, quickening my walking pace. we made it to the houses again. they were old. they were abandoned. there was nothing out there.

"of course it's fucking happening," eli said matter of factly as he kicked in a door to an abandoned house.

"move!" he says through gritted teeth as he kicked again, and again. we didn't have any of our bags. we didn't have anything.

we woke up from a beautiful sleep, to the end of the world; as per usual.

my tears formed without me even thinking. i watched him groan and yell in frustration as he punched his hand through the glass window unlocking the door from the inside. blood was dripping everywhere.

you think you know someone, and then you watch them behave in the same ways they had when you first met. the night that i met elias in a bar on the edge of the end of the world, he called me beautiful. and then he punched a tree. his hand bled. i thought he was psychopath.

i looked at him with wide eyes.

"come on, come on," he motioned for me to go inside. i nodded quickly my long legs were basically tripping over themselves as i tried to process what was happening.

like we always said it, it was actually happening. it was real. it was today.

"sidney," he paced the hardwood floor his hands in his hair. i sat on the ground catching my breath.

i looked up at him. he gave the this panicked face. "oh stop it," i said shakily. "don't panic now."

"what the fuck do you mean don't panic!?" his tone was so unsure. he would never yell at me, but here he was, yelling

that's how i knew.

my heart was hammering in my chest. it felt like it was going to burst. elias shouted and paced all around. i couldn't hear him though.

all i could hear was radiohead, blasting from the car speakers on the ride home from the bar. the night that we met. the night i didn't even believe in the end of the world. because my world had already ended. hence my song choice.
