Kind of a wholesome chapter with a dash of steam at the start teehee, I needed some sugar with the spice (o˘˘o)

JASPER'S POV

My body shutters with pleasure as Alex's hands grip tight at my hips. I let out an exhausted sigh as I slump forward. My arms can barely hold myself up as my hands plant onto the bed on each side of his head. Gently, I feel him move my body from on top of him, laying me on the bed next to him.

"You're perfect, you know that right?" The words loop through my mind, Alex's voice wrapping around me as closely as his warmth, sinking in deeper each time.

Never, not even once in my life have I felt perfect, nor anywhere close to that. The most affection I've ever felt was from my mother. Even then, it came short because of my father.

"I'm not," I whisper accidentally.

"Not what?" Alex turns to me with slight amusement in his gaze.

"Perfect." The twinkle in his eyes seems to fade out, but his lips remain upturned in a smile.

Alex pulls me close, his voice almost a whisper. "You've been through so much, I get it. But none of that changes how perfect you are to me. I'll keep telling you until you believe it."

His words are overwhelming, my eyes burning with tears. Or, maybe it's just my fucking outrageous hormones flowing through my body. Either way, I bite at my lip, blinking away the salty water that threatens to fall from my eyes, glossing them over.

"I—don't deserve somebody like you." I mutter quietly, dragging my head forward and burying into his bare chest.

Alex's arm snakes around the side of my body, his warmth like a blanket over me. I relax into his touch, listening to the steady breathing of his body.

"You don't deserve somebody—like me?" he teases sarcastically, laughing as he rests his chin on my head. "A damaged, chaotic, maybe-slightly-booze-dependent, kinky-ass bastard?"

This time I let out a heartfelt chuckle, raising my head enough to meet his eyes with my own. A playful smirk spreads across my lips. "Well, when you put it like that, how could I resist?"

We sit in silence together for a moment as Alex's hand runs up and down my back, almost lulling me into sleep. I force my eyes to stay open though, still early in the day.

"We should shower and get up." I mumble into his chest and he sighs.

"You're probably right." He replies, but doesn't move.

Barely audible through the closed door, I can hear my phone ringing from the kitchen.

"My phones going off," I say, and Alex squeezes me tighter to him.

"So?"

"So—can I go answer it?" I laugh, trying to break free of his grip.

"I guess so, meet me in the shower after?" His fingers trail down my body, and a slight shiver courses through me.

"Sounds good." I tilt my head up and plant a soft kiss on his chin, wiggling my way out of his arms. I grab a pair of sweatpants from his closet quickly, and make my way out to the kitchen.

I grab my phone from the counter. For a second, some anxiety creeps up out of nowhere. Only three people could be calling me: the hospital, Sam, or the damn stalker.

Luckily, my only missed call is from Sam, and I redial his number to call him back.

"Hey Sam." I say cheerfully into the line.
