"Are you ready to go?" I shout to Alex from the kitchen.

"Yeah!" He says gleefully, popping his head around the corner, stepping into the walkway.

My breath catches as Alex walks toward me, and my gaze sweeps over him, studying every detail. Most days I find him utterly captivating, but tonight he radiates perfection. His hair is styled perfectly, the curled locks held in place, complimenting his freshly shaven face. He's wearing a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt that fits snugly over his arms and chest, highlighting his muscular build. His light-washed jeans hug him in all the right places, completing a look that's near-impossible to ignore.

"You look nice." I say sheepishly to him, a smile making an appearance on my face.

"Thank you—you're looking charming yourself," he says in a low, smooth tone, and a warmth creeps into my cheeks.

"Thank-you." I mumble quickly, looking away.

"Hey, don't look away when I give you a compliment," he replies softly.

I glance up as he steps closer, wrapping his strong arms around my waist, pulling me in. I snake my arms around his neck and my gaze meets his, looking into those dark enticing eyes of his.

"Thank you." I say once more.

"That's much better," he says with a grin, leaning down. Our lips connect softly in a sweet kiss and my heart flutters in my chest.

"Alright let's get to that bowling alley." I chirp, and Alex pulls away slowly.

"I'm ready when you are."

With that we both pull our jackets on, and slip our shoes over our feet heading out of the apartment.

As we step outside, the streetlights glow dimly in the early evening light. With November approaching, the sun sets much earlier now, dipping below the horizon around five.

Alex laces his fingers in mine, gently tugging me beside him on the sidewalk to the parking lot. As we approach the sleek black car, Alex releases my hand to open my door for me. I smile at him before stepping inside, the door shutting behind me. He gets in, and starts the engine, a fine purr emerging from beneath the hood.

I tell him the alley we are going to meet Sam and his wife at, and he pulls onto the main streets, navigating through the city. I watch through the window as the lights pass above us, and let out a small relaxed sigh.

I turn my head over to Alex as he places a warm hand on my thigh, giving it a tight squeeze.

"I'm happy you wanted me to do this with you Jas."

I can't help the toothy grin that spreads between my cheeks. "I'm glad that you wanted to come," I reply, my tone filled with warmth. I place my hand on top of Alex's as we approach the entrance to the alley, pulling into the lot. Soon after we park, Alex leans over to me, and places a quick peck on my cheek.

He does his usual rush out of his side of the car, and over to mine, before opening my door. He reaches a hand toward me, and I take ahold of it.

Entering the alley, I'm hit with a wave of unfamiliar scents: polished wood, the musty smell of old shoes, and a hint of buttery popcorn from the snack bar nearby.

I scan around area for the two familiar faces I've come to miss. My face lights up as my eyes meet Sam's. Alicia pops up from behind him and gives me a small wave, which I return with big smile. I grab ahold of Alex's hand, him seeming to be lost in his own world, and drag him behind me towards them.

"Hey man! Long time no see it feels like." Sam chimes, and I wrap my arms around him for a brief hug, before doing the same for Alicia.

"How have you guys been? I've been meaning to hangout more...but I've been—busy," I ask more awkwardly than I'd have liked.
