Heyo! Back after a much needed couple days of taking a writing break.

Back to Alex's pov and back to work, let's see how he's been handling everything.

As always, thanks for reading.  ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶

ALEX'S POV

I feel guilty...again, knowing I've repeated my actions of leaving Jasper asleep without a proper goodbye. At least this time though he knows where I'll be.

I pull my car into my usual parking space, and turn the key in the ignition, letting the engine go quiet. I open my door, and step out into the parking area, huffing out a long sigh as I walk towards the building.

Today will be pure agony.

My father has arranged several meetings throughout the day to make sure everything will be kept in line for when I'll take over. And on top of that, he's made sure I get his work load on top of mine so I get "accustomed" to work without him. It all really just seems like a waste though, seeing how I'd be hiring somebody to handle my position once I fill his shoes.

My dress shoes tap lightly against the polished tile below, transitioning into a soft thud as I rush to get into the already open elevator.

"Mornin' Mr. Sinclair, what's the rush this morning?" The familiar and feminine voice of Bree chirps from beside me.

"Bree—I've told you to call me Alex for years now," I shake my head at her, "and, as you should know I'm too impatient to wait for the elevator to come back down." I let out a small laugh and she follows suite.

"I see your schedule is crammed—well, more than usual anyway."

I sigh at the reminder of my long day ahead, "hm, yours must be too then if you're also here early." I reply.

"Haha, well if you're busy for the day so am I, our work is coordinated." She rolls her eyes playfully and I grin.

"You make a fair point, speaking of work, can you have some paperwork filed for me, and some copies of our investment policies made up that I need to get out."

"Sure thing."

And with that the elevator chimes, Bree and I parting ways as step outside. I turn right and walk to the end of the hall, reaching my office at the end.

Placing my hand on the smooth handle, I slowly push open my door, the weight of my job doing its usual press on my soul. It's times like these where I miss going to the gym before work, getting the chance to release some pent up frustration. But, my life at the moment is chaotic.

I barely have enough time in my day to make sure I don't have to take my work home with me... Which won't last long after my father passes.

Taking a seat at my desk I pull my laptop from its drawer, and power it on, typing my passkey to unlock it.

Soft knocks emerge from the outside of my door and I announce to whoever sits outside to come inside.

"Son, how are you doing this morning?" My dad creeps around the glass and leaves the door slightly ajar behind him, taking a seat in front of my desk.
