Chapter 4 (Zach)
After pushing my wolf for about an hour with non stop running I headed back towards the school. My mind was clearer, my body was more relaxed and most importantly I was firmly back in control.
Luckily I carried an extra set of clothing in my car since the ones I wore to school were now in shreds. Carefully sneaking to the parking lot I quickly changed and walked back into the school feeling like I was back on top of the world.
Soon as I hit the door the bell rang and my lips curled into a smile. Perfect timing, I thought to myself. I was just in time for my favorite class. In gym I was offered the perfect opportunity to admire the ladies flaunting around in their booty shorts that was considered part of their uniform and more importantly, the ladies had their best chance to ogle none other than me. What else could a guy ask for?
After changing into my gym uniform I leisurely walked out on the court and spotted my boys, Jake, Leon and Bobby. I ran over to meet them and chest bumped Jake.
“What’s Up?” I asked while thinking about how much better I felt after that run. A good run was all I needed. See, I got this covered, I thought to my self. I can handle Marissa being back here because I am the man.
“Not much” Leon replied pulling me back from my own thoughts. He was casually bouncing the basketball when he glanced back up and asked, “Where were you last period anyway?”
Quirking my lips I had to think about the best way to say this. No one other than Amy knew the truth about Marissa and I planned on it staying that way, forever. I was determined that no one would ever know that I have a mate, or rather had being a more operable word. Never again would I go down the mating road. There was just too much of me to go around rather than tying myself with one female and chancing my heart being broken to pieces again.
“I just felt claustrophobic and needed a breather, so I went for a run” I said in a very matter of fact tone, at least that much of the statement was true.
The boys gave me a peculiar look but seemed to accept my explanation. Ready to get my game on I reached over and stole the ball from Bobby. Laughing at the stupefied look on his face I asked them, “Ladies are we going to play ball sometime today or what?”
Jake tried to come at me from the left and I spun off him taking the ball all the way to the hoop. Lifting off I dunked on him and turned around ready to rub it in his face when it happened.
I saw her. My vision tunneled and her raspberry scent easily reached my nose tickling my senses. I felt the immediate swelling in my groin and dammit, I found my self right back where I started before my run. My wolf had come back in full force to the surface and it took everything that I had in me and then some to keep him restrained.
“Hey man, are you all right?” Leon asked when he took notice of how had just stopped in the center of the court.
Cursing the way my body reacted to her I angrily turned and passed the ball back to him. “I’m fine” I bit out between gritted teeth, “perfectly fine” I repeated. I sounded like I was trying to convince myself more so than the boys. When everyone just stood there staring at me with their tongues hanging out of their mouths I blew out a deep breath and irritably barked out the words “Let’s play” barely holding on to my last strand of control.
