“Whispers of Hope”

Chapter 14 (Zach)

Waking up to a warm female all snuggled up beside me is the only way I want to wake up for the rest of my natural born life.  Especially when she is an auburn haired angel with a lithe little body and had a scent that calls to me like no other.  She reminds me of raspberries, mmmm, my newest favorite food.

At first I let myself take several deep breaths so that I could fill my nose with her sweet  raspberry scent.  Her scent was now so ingrained in my senses that I was sure I would now be able to find my little mate anywhere, any time, any day.

Then slowly, ever so slowly, I opened my eyes so that I could see my mate.  I was instantly taken aback looking down at her with the way the sunlight bounced off her auburn hair.  It surrounded her face like a halo making her just that more beautiful in my eyes.

She was a temptation that was quickly proving to take an act of God for me to refrain from.  My wolf wanted to mate with her with a need so fierce that I was finding myself in a constant state of  arousal but I knew it was all to soon, too soon for her.  With her newly discovered wolf and the fact that she and I are mated for life was more than enough for her to have to take in for one weekend.

I couldn't stop myself from touching her though.  I may be try to be an upstanding guy, but I was by no means a Saint.

Strands of her unruly hair covered her sleeping face.  Reaching down I lightly brushed those runaway strands from her face and pushed them back behind her ear.  Beautiful, absolutely beautiful I thought to myself as I let my hand linger on the side of her creamy cheek.

Her skin was soft, so soft that it reminded me of rose petals.  That thought had me wondering what type of flowers she liked.  Did she like roses, maybe yellow ones that reminded me of her silky locks.  Or was she a lily type of girl, to match the coloring of her skin.  I made a mental not to find out because I wanted to give my little mate flowers, flowers that were almost as beautiful as she, but not quite.

Then I let my hand trace those pert rosy pink lips of hers.  Ones that I kissed so many times last night because I couldn’t get enough of her sweet taste.  Pictures of our little dinner play from the night before came to mind and a grin started to spread on my face.  I know I probably looked like an idiot but I didn’t give a damn.  I was an idiot in love.

Wow, love.  That thought came from out of nowhere.  Was I really in love with Marissa Mae Combs?  I thought about that as I let my thumb lightly brush that lower lip of hers.  Yea, I think I am, I really think I am in love.

Who would have thought, I Zachary Evan Martin would have ever fallen head over heels for such a sweet little thing like Marissa Mae.  I chuckled lightly at the thought.

“What are you doing?” a pleasant but sleep filled voice called out to me.

I looked down into the greenest eyes that I had ever seen.  They shown like bright emeralds and I felt like I could look into those jewels forever and a day if she would only just let me.

“Looking at you” I answered her honestly.

Those mesmerizing eyes of hers stared back at me curiously.  “Why are you ginning like a fool then” she asked cautiously.

My smile widened if that was even possible, “Because” I told her and because I was unable to hold myself back any longer I dipped down and brushed a kiss across her lips.  A taste, a small taste of euphoria was all I wanted and I found that with the mate lying beside me. “Because I’m happy” I stated with conviction.
