Adrienne sat cross-legged on her bed, phone cradled between her shoulder and ear as she paced the room. "I just don't know what to do," she admitted, her voice a mix of frustration and uncertainty. "I really think it's best if I never see Jim again. I made that clear when I slapped him."

On the other end, Sasha's voice came through, calm but insistent. "I get that, Adrienne, but maybe it's worth clearing the air first. You can't just cut him off without letting him explain himself. You never know what could happen later on."

Lauren's voice broke in, sounding doubtful. "Sasha, you're only saying that because Jim trashed Jason's house. You'd probably forgive him for anything now."

Sasha let out an exasperated sigh. "That's not it! I just think everyone deserves a chance to be heard, Adrienne. You wouldn't want someone cutting you off without a word, right?"

"Maybe, but he hurt her," Lauren argued, her tone sharp. "Honestly, Adrienne, slapping him was the best thing you could have done. He needs to know there are consequences. He shouldn't be around you at all anymore."

Adrienne felt torn, her gaze drifting to the floor as she tried to make sense of her emotions. "I know he hurt me, Lauren, but don't you think it's a bit harsh to just shut him out? I didn't give him a chance to say anything. I don't really want to hear him, but maybe it's only fair?"

"See? Even Adrienne thinks it might be fair," Sasha said, backing her up. "Everyone deserves that much, even if they've made mistakes."

Lauren scoffed, unconvinced. "I don't think he deserves anything from you. You got hurt, not him. That slap should mean something, Adrienne."

Just as the argument was picking up again, Lauren paused suddenly. "Wait... hold on," she said, her tone shifting.

Adrienne frowned. "What is it?"
