Author note: This will be a shorter chapter since this was the other half of the chop. This has by far been one of my favorites to write so I hope you enjoy :)

Ominis held the gift box in his hand, but he still hadn't opened it. They were sitting across from each other in, of course, the Slytherin common room. She had given it to him five minutes ago and still he hadn't opened it. Jane was about to go absolutely feral soon. Actually she would have already except he kept on distracting her.

"What did you give Weasley?"

"What?" She said, taking her eyes off the unopened box and looking up at him. "You want to know what I got Garreth?"

"I do."

"Oh um I got him a ledger."

"A ledger? A business ledger?" He looked like he didn't believe her.

"Yeah, actually it's even a muggle ledger. I asked Professor Garlick if she would help me get one- you know because she's muggle born too. The notebook that he was using for all his potions was getting really worn and I didn't think it looked that great anyway."

"And he was... happy with that?"

"He seemed happy, but knowing him he'd be happy if I had given him a sock." She smiled thinking back to his reaction when they had exchanged gifts. "But he seemed genuinely excited when he was flipping through it; said lots of things about being better organized and whatnot."

"Ah, well that's good I suppose. And what did he get you?"

"Are you trying to avoid opening my gift?" She said ignoring his question. A sly smile flicked across his face.

"Of course not, I am merely interested in what gifts you have received thus far."

She narrowed her eyes at him, not at all convinced.

"Are you afraid I got you something terrible? Are you worried you are going to be disappointed and won't be able to mask your feelings?"

He scoffed, "please, I am more than capable of hiding my emotions."

"Then you are worried my gift will be bad!" She called out, pointing her finger towards him. His face turned slightly pink at her repeated accusation.

"No-" he stammered. "It's just, well I am afraid that my gift will seem quite inconsequential as compared to yours..."

"Oh." She said, lowering her finger.

There was a bit of awkward silence between them before Jane suggested;

"We could just open them at the same time."

"And you think that would help?"

"I dunno, but at least you'd be too distracted opening mine to think about me opening yours."

Ominis sat thinking about it for a moment, face unreadable. He must have thought it was a good idea though because he reached down to grab his own gift and handed it out towards her. Jane took it, feeling excitement bubble up inside of her.

"Alright, on the count of three," the excitement continued to grow. "One- two- three!"

She started to tear off the brown paper then covered the box. Massed produced wrapping paper was not a thing, but honestly this felt more festive somehow. When Jane got to the box she tore off the lid and moved aside the fabric that covered whatever was inside.

As she got a glimpse at her gift she felt very confused. Did she have the wrong gift? She looked over at Ominis who was now looking just as confused as she was, but he was holding his gift in his hand. The realization of what was going on dawned on her and Jane couldn't help bursting into laughter.
