Ominis POV- Sometime in November...
"Is it a pale blue?" Ominis asked as Sebastian handed him yet another spool of sheeps wool.
"It's blue." Sebastian said flatly.
Ominis took a deep breath, attempting to calm his growing frustration so he didn't curse his friend out of the store. Without his help he would have to rely on the busy body shop keeper and he didn't want to deal with that.
"It can't just be blue, we've been over this. It has to be pale blue."
"Well I don't see a pale blue!" The other boy said frustrated, grabbing the spool from his hands. He heard Sebastain start to grumble, something about how he could have spent this time reading. Ominis crossed his arms, trying again to gain control of his emotions.
There weren't a lot of options for buying yarn or wool at Hogsmeade- apparently most people had started ordering from catalogs. Unfortunately for him though the catalogs he had made Sebastian look through also didn't have what he was looking for.
"Why are you asking me for help with so many strange things lately?" Sebastian said, his voice coming from over by the stack of yarn. "There was the party on Halloween, and before that there was that search through the music shop, and now we are on a manhunt for blue yarn-"
"Pale blue-" Ominis corrected. "And this isn't for me remember, this is for Anne."
"Oh yes, that's right."
Truth be told.... It wasn't actually Anne who they were buying the yarn for. Well in a roundabout way it was, but Sebastian didn't need to know that. Initially, this had all been Ominis' idea. He was the one who had asked Anne to make Jane a scarf for Christmas, and it was he who volunteered to get the material that she would need for it.
Ominis moved over to where his friend was, reaching out and feeling the different textures spun together. What was strange was having so many different surfaces all in one place. There were some that felt coarse, smooth, soft, thick, itchy, and even one that was sharp. Apparently the sharp one was labeled for the outside layer of a protective coat.
"Why does Anne need pale blue yarn?" Sebastian asked.
Ominis stiffened. His friend had tried asking this same thing when they had left the castle but Ominis had just brushed him off then. He probably wouldn't get away with it again.
"She is making a scarf for someone."
"Who?" Sebastian replied quickly, "Because obviously it's not you or me, and there is no way Solomen would ever wear something of that color."
"Does it matter?" Ominis replied, pulling out one of the spools from its shelf and making it look like he was busy feeling it over.
"Actually yes I believe it does." The boy said, moving to stand even closer to Ominis. He let out a sigh and returned the yarn.
"She's making it for Jane."
"For Jane?? Does that mean the two of them are still talking??"
Ominis felt Sebastian's presence loom even lower on him.
"Yes I believe that they are-"
"Why wouldn't she tell me??" His friend replied, his voice louder than it had before.
"Why should she have to?"
Ominis turned to move back to where he had been before. He could already tell that Sebastian was going to get fired up about this and he wanted to make as much space as possible from him. It didn't really work though because he felt his friend stepping barely a pace behind him.
