As days turned into weeks, Leila’s training continued. She spent mornings with Lucian, learning everything from the language to self-defense. In the evenings, they often found themselves walking together through the gardens, their conversations growing more personal with each passing night.

One evening, as they strolled along a path lined with lanterns, Lucian paused, looking up at the stars. “When I was young, my mother would take me here to stargaze,” he said, his voice filled with a quiet nostalgia.

Leila looked at him, sensing the pain behind his words. “Do you miss her?”

“Every day,” he replied, his gaze distant. “But loss teaches resilience. It reminds us of what truly matters.”

She reached out, resting a hand on his arm. “I know what it’s like to lose someone. It’s like a part of you is missing, but… maybe it’s still there, in everything you do.”

He looked at her, his eyes filled with something she couldn’t quite name. “Perhaps you’re right.”

They continued walking, the silence between them comfortable and full. For the first time, Leila felt as though she wasn’t just a visitor in Lucian’s world—she was a part of it, connected to him in a way that went beyond words.

That night, as she lay in bed, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her heart was slowly becoming intertwined with his. And though she knew the path ahead was uncertain, she was willing to take the risk.
