Bakugo Did Not Ask for a Best Friend Who Was a Fucking Egg

Every kid dreams of discovering their quirk. They try countless experiments
Jumping off couches, clapping their hands, or yelling to the skies-desperate to trigger some sign of power. While some kids are born with visible mutations, others, like Izuku Midoriya, had to wait for their quirks to appear.

Our story begins in a quiet playground in Musutafu, Japan.

Bakugo Katsuki had one dream: to be the number-one hero. And naturally, he assumed his best friend, Izuku Midoriya, would be at his side.

"Kacchan, I heard you went to the quirk doctor today! What's your quirk!?" Izuku exclaimed, flailing his arms like an inflatable tube man.

Bakugo puffed out his chest. "Heh, of course you'd want to know. The doctor said it's a strong quirk, and I'll be a great hero. Watch this!" He thrust his hand forward, creating a crackling burst of tiny explosions.

Izuku's eyes sparkled with awe. "You're going to be a great hero, Kacchan! I'm going to the quirk doctor tomorrow. Some scales have been growing on my back at night! I think my quirk might be like my dad's-a dragon!"

Izuku's dad, Hisashi Midoriya, was a well-known hero ranked in Japan's top 50. His powers-a mix of fire-breathing and partial transformation-made him a force to be reckoned with. However, his quirk wasn't flawless; his scales lacked regenerative properties, which made him vulnerable in battles.

Two years after Izuku was born, Hisashi left for patrol one day and never returned. Rumors swirled-some said he abandoned the family, while others claimed a villain had killed him. With no evidence, he remained one of Japan's many missing heroes.

Meanwhile, Inko Midoriya, Izuku's doting mother, was busy preparing breakfast the next morning. She expected to see her son buzzing with excitement, but when she checked his room, her heart nearly leaped out of her chest.

Instead of her cheerful, messy-haired son, there was...an egg.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" Inko's scream echoed through the neighborhood.

---

"So, Ms. Midoriya," the quirk doctor said as he flipped through a clipboard, "it appears your son has a metamorphosis-type quirk." He gestured at a chart with various stages of development.

"Normally, these quirks are rare, but in some cases, individuals never emerge from their metamorphosis stage and remain in that state forever."

Inko's face paled, the doctor's words hitting like a ton of bricks.

"But," he quickly added, "in your son's case, he will eventually hatch. Based on my analysis, it should take 10 to 11 years. When he does hatch, I recommend a follow-up visit to assess his abilities." He pointed to some photos Inko had brought along. "From the signs of scale development, he'll likely have wings. In the meantime, you'll need to follow this care guide to ensure his safe growth."

Inko blinked in disbelief, clutching the list of egg care instructions. She wasn't sure if she was raising a child or starting a backyard chicken farm.

The next morning, Bakugo woke up feeling determined. Today was the day he and Izuku would start their heroic journey together.

Still dressed in his prized All Might Limited Edition onesie (only 1,000 made worldwide), Bakugo rubbed his eyes and glanced at the clock. "Huh? Noon already? The old hag must still be asleep."

He marched to his mother's room but stopped short when he overheard her voice through the door.

"WHAT!? IZUKU TURNED INTO AN EGG!?"

Bakugo's eyes shot wide open. "IZUKU TURNED INTO A FUCKING EGG!?" he yelled, his onesie rippling with righteous fury.

Without a second thought, he bolted out of the house, ignoring the confused stares of random bystanders as he sprinted toward Izuku's home. How did a 5-year-old manage this? Don't ask.

Inko, still on the phone with Mitsuki, froze as Bakugo burst through her door. "Mitsuki, hold on a second. I think-wait. Katsuki!?" She stared as the blonde tornado in an All Might onesie made a beeline for the egg and wrapped it in a fierce hug.

"Mitsuki," Inko whispered into the phone, "Katsuki's...hugging the egg. And muttering something."

By the time Mitsuki arrived, Bakugo was still crouched over the egg, clutching it like a life-sized teddy bear.

"How the hell did this brat run all the way here!?" Mitsuki huffed, looking between her son and the egg.

"I...I don't know," Inko stammered, still processing the scene.

Bakugo ignored them both, narrowing his eyes at the egg with unwavering resolve. "Listen here, you nerd! You and me are going to become heroes whether you like it or not. I don't care if you're an egg. You hear me!?"

And so begins the egg-citing tale of two childhood friends and their journey to becoming heroes. One explosion at a time.
