Izuku stood at the front of the stadium, the roar of the crowd surrounding him. His heart raced as he stared out at the thousands of spectators. The spotlight was on him, and for the first time, he felt the weight of it. Being called up to the podium wasn’t something he had expected, but it was the result of his performance during the entrance exam. As the first-place winner of the exam, he was the one chosen to give the opening speech.
Aizawa had given him a look that said, "You’re up," and now here he was, standing in front of the entire student body and the public. He could feel Bakugo’s burning gaze from behind him, but Izuku was determined to make this count.
"hey everyone," Izuku began, he cleared his throat and took a deep breath. This was no time for nerves. He had to say something meaningful. "I just wanted to say that this is U.A. High! The school that will train the next generation of heroes. It’s an honor to be here with all of you, and it’s something I’ve dreamed of for as long as I can remember."
The crowd hushed for a moment, listening to the young boy who had earned the top spot in the entrance exam. Izuku stood tall, growing more comfortable as he spoke. "We’ve all worked hard to get here, and this festival is about showing that dedication. But remember, no matter how tough things get, we’re all in this together. Each of us is going to face challenges, but we’ll keep moving forward, one step at a time."
Izuku paused, the words feeling right. He could see students from other courses nodding, even a few teachers seemed impressed. It was his moment to shine, and he wasn’t going to waste it.
But then, a slight grin tugged at his lips as he added, "But, let’s be honest here… after today, it won’t really matter, because you all will eventually lose to me."
The stadium fell silent for a brief moment. And then— boom —the crowd erupted into an explosion of excitement. Some laughed, others cheered, and a few muttered in disbelief. Izuku’s declaration had caught everyone off guard, but his confidence was clear. His eyes sparkled with determination, and a cocky smirk danced on his face as he stood proudly at the podium.
The noise from the crowd was deafening, but through it all, Bakugo’s voice rang out from behind him.
"Tch, you’re not as tough as you think, Nerd!" Bakugo shouted, arms crossed, still giving his usual scowl.
Izuku didn’t flinch. He looked over his shoulder, his smirk never fading. "Sorry, Kacchan, but I’m pretty sure I’m taking first place today."
The crowd's enthusiasm only grew louder, and even Iida, standing off to the side, couldn’t help but chuckle at the banter. Though his voice was stern, he couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at his lips. "Midoriya, Bakugo, always so competitive..."
Izuku quickly added, "Good luck to everyone though! May the best hero win!"
As he finished his speech, the students were buzzing with excitement. The energy in the stadium had shifted, and everyone was fired up for the upcoming events. Izuku’s bold claim had set the tone, and now, the Sports Festival was about to get even more intense.
With the crowd still roaring behind him, Izuku made his way back to his classmates, feeling the weight of the moment finally lift from his shoulders. The first event was up next, but for now, he had made his mark.
The starting line was buzzing with excitement as the first event of the Sports Festival, the race, was about to begin. Izuku, Bakugo, and the rest of Class 1-A stood at the edge, the anticipation thick in the air. The starting gun fired, and in an instant, the students were off.
Izuku’s legs moved like lightning as he sped across the terrain, the wind whipping past him. His enhanced agility and speed had already put him ahead of most of the competitors, but he could feel Bakugo not far behind. Bakugo, being the reckless fireball he was, launched himself into the air with an explosive blast, zipping high above everyone else.
