"People Think He’s Insane? Screw Them"

It had been years since Izuku turned into an egg. Life had gone on, except now, Bakugo Katsuki roamed the streets of Musutafu with a giant egg tucked securely in his backpack, surrounded by bubble wrap, padding, and whatever else Auntie Inko insisted was necessary for "safe egg transport."

Walking down the city streets, Bakugo stopped in front of a café. "Alright, nerd, lunch break," he muttered, glaring at the egg.

Seated at a small table, Bakugo stared down at the egg across from him. He tapped his fingers on the surface, clearly irritated.

"Hey, nerd, I've been thinking," Bakugo started, narrowing his eyes at the egg. "You’ve been slacking off, haven’t you?"

The egg tilted slightly.

Bakugo growled, "What, you thought I wouldn’t notice? Do you even want to be a hero? HUH!? I’m talking to you—say something, dammit!"

Silence.

Bakugo leaned back in his chair, frustration brewing. "Fine. You know what? From now on, we’re practicing quirks every single day of the week. Got it?"

The egg rotated, turning away from him.

"HEY! DON’T YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON ME, YOU SHITTY NERD! ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON ME?!"

From across the café, a lady discreetly picked up her phone. "Yes, hello? Officer? There’s a boy here, blonde hair, red eyes—kind of like a pomeranian—sitting across from an egg. He’s yelling at it like it’s talking back. Can you send someone? No, not a squad car... Maybe an ambulance? Mental health unit? Thanks."

It wasn’t the first time this had happened. In fact, it was the seventh time this week that Mitsuki Bakugo had to assure authorities her son was not mentally unstable.

Aldera Middle School

"Alright, class, time for attendance," the teacher said as he glanced at his clipboard.

"Marlana Egadnob."
"Present!"

"Regina Evals."
"Present!"

"Bakugo Katsuki."
"Here."

"Alright, let’s begin."

The teacher droned on until a hand shot up. "Oi, teacher-extra! You forgot the nerd!" Bakugo shouted, pointing at the empty seat beside him, which was occupied by—you guessed it—the egg.

The teacher sighed. He’d been briefed about Katsuki. Smart, strong, excellent quirk. Potential to be a great hero. The problem? He thought the egg was alive.

To humor him, the teacher called out, "Izuku Midoriya."

Unsurprisingly, the egg did not respond.

The teacher pinched the bridge of his nose. "Now, class, let’s start with something simple, something even elementary students could handle—Calculus. Afterward, we’ll ease into Quantum Physics."

The students collectively groaned, but Bakugo ignored them, furiously taking notes for both himself and the egg.

Training Time

The school day ended, and Bakugo wasted no time. He snatched up the egg, jumped out of the classroom window (don't ask how a middle schooler managed this), and bolted toward the outskirts of the city.

"HA! YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD ESCAPE ME? WITH WHAT LEGS, HUH? WE’RE TRAINING UNTIL YOU DROP DEAD, SHITTY NERD!"

In a secluded area far from prying eyes, Bakugo set the egg down. "Your stamina sucks. So, here’s the plan: while I’m perfecting my explosions, you’re gonna roll around like your life depends on it."

Bakugo unleashed a barrage of explosions, yelling at himself to "go bigger" and "get louder." After what felt like hours, he turned to check on Izuku.

The egg hadn’t moved.

Veins popped on Bakugo’s forehead. "YOU NERD! YOU WERE SLACKING OFF?! DO YOU EVEN WANT TO BE A HERO?! I’LL TURN YOU INTO A DAMN OMELETTE!"

Fueled by rage, Bakugo charged at the egg, explosions swirling in his palms. Just as he leaped into the air, a mole erupted from the ground, accidentally knocking the egg forward. It rolled just out of range of Bakugo’s explosion.

When the smoke cleared, Bakugo marched over, fully expecting to find a scrambled mess. Instead, the egg was unschated.

"You little..." Bakugo clenched his fists. "You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?! You’re probably training in secret, plotting to surpass me while pretending to laze around. WELL, GUESS WHAT? YOU CAN’T OUTSMART ME!"

Bakugo’s scream echoed through the trees. Sufficiently enraged, he stormed back to the egg, stuffed it into his backpack, and marched home. Smoke curled from his ears the entire way.

The next morning promised nothing out of the ordinary—until fate intervened. Something happened.

Something big.

Something that would change everything.

For Izuku.

And for Bakugo.

What that was, though... well, you’ll just have to stick around to find out.
