Without my powers, I have no way of finding the boy!

The crippling thought was the first thing on Sanaa's mind when she and Amir awoke from another passionate sex induced coma.

They'd spent the majority of the early morning making love and when they finally had the inclination to continue their journey, it made no sense to leave and have to set up camp again in a matter of hours. So, Amir decided they would remain in the desert another night. Another sex filled night in which Sanaa indulged in every new position Amir could think to put her in. On her stomach and from behind was her favourite, she realised. Feeling his heavy weight on top of and inside her, made her feel safe, protected and it filled her with joy... amongst other things.

They'd not used any protection and she had no way of acquiring any tonics or potions that would stop the effects of their love making but Sanaa found she had more pressing things on her mind as they entered the city of Azryek.

At first sight, it was a beautiful city. Awash in the sandy yellows and warm oranges and browns of the desert, but close enough to a deep central lake that they had palm trees in abundance, adding a splash of vibrant tropical colour to the city. Amir and Sanaa were dressed in lighter desert garments gifted to them by the nomads as they entered the city, both their faces covered which wasn't unusual considering the heat. Many people had loose coverings to keep out the sand as much as possible and so, they walked openly but cautiously looking for somewhere to re group. They found a small inn and stables where they were able to water their horse and take a break. Being in the shade was well over due even with their protective garments and so Sanaa stood patiently waiting for Amir under a cluster of palms as he negotiated their stay. It was only the she was able to stoke of what had really happened.

She had made love to Amir. She had lost her power and by doing so she had lost the protection over her. If Ghassan were to capture her now, knowing she was no longer of any use to him, he would abuse her without a second thought. The idea of that sent a chill through Sanaa despite the desert heat. She'd not had to think of her life back at the palace for so long, it felt like a world away. Archimedes and Miri had been her only friends and she had lost them forever. Miri more violently so, but when she'd chosen this life with Amir, however long it lasted, she had made that final choice to leave Archimedes behind.

"What's wrong my love?" Amir asked crouching down in front of her and wiping the singular tear that had fallen down her face. Sanaa sniffed and put on a brave face, a smile for him as Amir looked so concerned.

"Just overwhelmed I guess," she said but he didn't look convinced. "I've never been this far from home before."

Or close to it, she thought. She was now closer to Agmantia then she had ever been. If she closed her eyes long enough, she might be able to smell the freshness of its waters, the balmy scent of its palm trees that would tell her she was home. Would Amir be happy there? Would the boy they were trying to save be safe there if they managed to find him.

"We could go you know," Amir said looking up at her. "We could go all the way to Agmantia and pretend that everything was normal."

Sanaa laughed at his attempt to lessen the bleakness of their situation.

"None of us have ever been normal, Amir. You're a prince and I'm a..."

What was she now that her powers were gone. She'd never learned anything other than what Ghassan had allowed her to be taught in order to groom her and that amounted to nothing. She'd been taken from home when she was barely more than a child and what little she had learned from her mother in that time, she had forgotten, having no need to up the skill. As Sanaa sat looking at Amir, the smile fell from her face as she realised how truly alone she was. Without Amir, she had noone and nothing. She was just as reliant on him as she was Ghassan.
