The tendency to jump awake seemed to have disappeared as Dean opened his eyes the next morning. His dream had been the same as usual, flashbacks from hell, but it didn't feel the same. They were less vivid this time, which had never happened before. But when he opened his eyes and breathed in deeply he immediately relaxed, the sweet twang coming from Scarlett's hair reminding him where he was.
Then something else occurred to him... It was morning... Which means-
"Woah there..." A sleepy sounding Scarlett exclaimed as she tried to stretch. Dean reacted by immediately jumping out of bed and consequently falling onto the ground.
His head pops up from his side of the bed and looks at her, "I am so so sorry. I swear I didn't mean to-"
Once again cutting him off, she giggles. "It's okay, it's natural. I was pretty much asking for it so it's not like I'm upset, it's just that I didn't realize until I started to move."
"I take offense to that, he isn't that small geez." Her eyes widened as she glared at him a little. The redness of her cheeks growing.
"I- I-I didn't mean that! Oh goodness, not that I was uh-I mean..." She looked terrified as she tried to explain.
While she stammered to explain Dean got up and sat next to her, leaning over and kissing her forehead. That shut her up pretty quickly. She blinked and looked up at him, still looking a little terrified. "You're cute when you're embarrassed." She opened her mouth to protest but was stopped by his forefinger, which was gently pressed to her plump lips. "Don't argue with me. I'm a licensed professional," his mouth curved up at the edges as he finishes his sentence, forming a smirk.
As she sat there looking at him, she found herself frozen. The sexual tension in the room was so thick that it seemed sticky, like humidity. She looked directly into his eyes as he moved in little by little, they were centimeters apart when there was a loud knocking on the door. They both jumped, Scarlett hadn't realized she was holding her breath until that moment.
"Are you two up yep?" Sam asked just before the door was wrenched open by a slightly irritated looking Scarlett. But before she could complain, he held up a bag and said, "I brought breakfast." She scowled at him for a second before walking away to allow him to enter the room.
Within minutes Dean was dressed and sitting at the table just before Bobby walked into the room. "When did my room become the common room?"
"When you let in the breakfast boy." Bobby remarked while reaching his hand in the bag Sam had brought into the room. Sam's face crinkled up while Scarlett rolled her eyes and went into the bathroom to put on clothes. She quickly brushed through her hair, and was done in only five or six minutes, but she stood at the counter and stared into the mirror for a moment.
He almost kissed me. Just breath, you're over analyzing this... It was probably just, just in my head. Yeah, that's it!
The courageous Scarlett was falling, whether she liked it or not.
