Lois "Good day everyone, welcome to episode 4 of this podcast. Today we joined by Helena Sandsmark, archeologist and the mother of Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark. Helena thank you for joining us"
Helena "Well thank you for the invite, I never quite expected to be asked to join something like this"
L "You definitely were on my eyes for this. So I guess we start by you sharing what lead you to becoming the mother of a Wonder Girl"
H "Its some story. So when I was apart of an archeology team, a strange but enticing man approached me. He claimed to be a new employee and we grew close. He showed me secrets and enhanced my progress of research. We slept together and then he left. All the research progress disappeared, all the hidden sites were gone. 9 months later I became a mom to a baby girl"
L "Wow short and concise, what happened next"
H "I focused on raising my daughter Cassie. I suspected something peculiar but my memories of the man started to fade away. Cassie could unconsciously control electricity and felt a spark around her. But she had a normal upbringing, well normal to the typical girl in the west coast. I continued my archaeology research and vowed to find that man. When Wonder Woman debuted, Cassie took a liking for her and joined my journey. Which lead to where we are now. Cassie told her origin in the talks she gave with Becca but to summarize, she touched an Amazonian artefact and her powers awakened. Soon, her powers grew and Queen Hippolyta adopted her and trained her. She worked with her new sisters Diana and Donna as well as the Amazons and is now a world hero"
L "Very true, love that last sentence. So who was this mystery man?
H "Well we believe its Zeus?
L "Zeus!?"
H "Hippolyta theorized it given Cassie's powers and the behavior I reported"
L "So where is he? Why did he abandon his daughter. And what of Goddess Hera?"
H "Well the gods are secretive and work in mysterious ways. I imagine Zeus was seeking a new thrill but from what Cassie and Hippolyta describe, perhaps Zeus was seeking a new heir. He may have taken a likening to me and my passion or maybe I unlocked a gateway to him. Cassie said she saw a white man in a vision reaching out to her but since Diana stepped in and took her in, she has been feeling herself. I sense Zeus has abandoned this plan. As for Hera, mythology states she is tied down to him by law but Hippolyta thinks she is actually away from him but society doesn't know. Like I said, they work in mysterious ways just like all gods are believed to. But what I know for sure is Cassie is her own young woman and she is safe under the goddesses watch as well as her sisters"
L "I'm rooting for her. So to close this off, I notice you refer to Diana and Donna as her sisters. Does this imply you consider Hippolyta to be her second mother?"
H "Definitely. Hippolyta essentially adopted her and despite a disagreeing premise, her and her family saved my little girl. She is now a Wonder Girl like Donna who is a huge ally of Wonder Woman. So yes, I consider Hippolyta to be Cassie's mother"
L "Well thank you for this interview"
H "No problem"
