Seraphine walked in silence with Spade trailing behind, his head lowered in anxiousness, worried of what the one person he feared most might say or do.
Meanwhile, the twins were bickering behind them.
"If Mom finds out, Estrellia, you’re dead meat!" Elros scolded, glaring.
Estrellia rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "She won't find out if you don't tell her, Elros." She simply replied in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Bloody hell, Lia! When will you ever listen to me?!" Elros snapped in frustration.
Estrellia turned on him, annoyed, pointing a finger at his chest. "You act like you’re so much better than me! I’m not a kid, Elros!" She shouted back.
Elros was about to retort when Seraphine suddenly stopped, turning to face them.
"Did you two follow me just to argue?" She asked coldly.
Both twins averted their eyes from her icy gaze, while Spade remained silent. Gathering his courage, Elros looked back at her.
"I'm not following you. I'm following her." He said, pointing at Estrellia who just scoffed at him.
Seraphine shifted her attention to Estrellia. "Why did you follow me?" she asked, her gaze unrelenting.
Estrellia hesitated before murmuring, "I-I was just...worried."
"Worried?" Seraphine echoed, her tone emotionless.
Estrellia nodded slowly, glancing up to meet her impassive eyes.
"Tell me... why are you worried about me?" Seraphine pressed, observing her reaction.
"Because you're my friend, so I'm—"
"Friend?" Seraphine interrupted bluntly. "Since when did I become your friend?"
Estrellia paused before lowering her head.
"I... I just thought..." She stuttered, not knowing what to say next.
Seeing his sister’s discomfort, Elros clenched his fists, glaring at Seraphine. "That’s too much! She was just—"
"We are nothing more than just roommates and classmates." Seraphine cut him off, still focused on Estrellia. "I did not come here to make friends with anyone. We will never be friends so know your place."
She turned and walked away, with Spade casting a sympathetic glance at Estrellia before following.
"That cold-hearted bitch." Elros gritted his teeth and went towards his sister.
"Are you okay—"
He was about to touch her but Estrellia slapped his hand away and ran in an opposite direction. Elros worriedly watched her go but then his face darkened as his thought turned to Seraphine.
On the other hand, Seraphine led Spade to the enchanted garden where no one can be seen except for the fairies flying around.
"Spill it." She started and faced him.
Spade sighed, meeting her gaze. "It was my classmate, Edmund. I don’t know exactly what happened, but..."
*Flashbacks*
(A day before the classes started and the first day of Seraphine and Spade at the academy).
Spade was about to come out of the bathroom stall when he heard someone slam the door.
