Chapter 4. Saved

Hiccup's POV.

I sat down and leaned against a tree. Toothless burned a patch of grass and then fell asleep. I have been away from Berk for five years now and I'm seventeen years old now, and I haven't stepped foot on Berk ever since I've left. Oh sure, I've watched during the night sometimes. And during those short visits I've noticed that Stoick treats Astrid badly. He is always trying to find something she's doing wrong, and then punish her for it.
"Toothless. Maybe we should visit Berk again. We haven't seen it for a while. How about tonight?"
"Sure. But if we're caught, I'm blaming you." He replied groggily.
"Thanks bud." Yep. I can speak Dragonesse. Toothless and some other dragons taught me. I had now trained four Nadders, four Hideous Zipplebacks, two Scouldrons, ten Gronckles, two Monstrous Nightmares, and a Thunderdrum. They lived throughout my island which I had named Haddock Island. Don't ask why. I had also lost half of my right leg in a battle with the Red Death. And the cave that Toothless and I had found, I had turned into a cosy home. In the very back I had made two cells (just in case I needed them) and the Gronckles I had asked to dig a side area. I turned that into my bedroom. I just used the middle part as a kithen, eating area. And the front was the lookout. My forge and dragon stables were down near the ground. Once again the Gronckles dug them for me. So, life was pretty good. For now.

Toothless and I were flying over Berk. It was night time. With the Red Death gone, there should never be a dragon raid. But right now, there was a group of Monstrous Nightmares attacking. Probably for the fun.
"Alright. Let's break this up." I rubbed Toothless's head and clicked his tail onto auto. He dived down and blasted at the Nightmares. The Vikings ducked when they realised that a Night Fury was around. Nets were thrown at us. But he dodge with ease. Eventually the Nightmares ceased and flew away. Toothless and I followed them. But suddenly their was a scream. I turned Toothless and looked for where the scream came from. As I looked down at the village square my heart skipped a beat. Stoick had his sword at Astrid's throat.

Astrid's POV.

I was trying to shoo the Nightmare away from a mother and her child. I haven't killed a dragon ever since Hiccup left. Infact, I tried to train a dragon when Stoick wasn't watching. Unfortunately my luck wasn't today, I hit the Nightmare on the head with a plank and then I stuck my hand out. It didn't work. He tried to bite me but I dodged. Straight into the same woman and child. The dragon tried to bite me again but I rolled. It grabbed the child instead. The woman screamed with the pain of the now lost child. I grabbed the woman and shoved her into a building. I then ran out to try and help the village. But the thought of me being the reason the child got taken made me sick. The Nightmares soon flew away. Stoick pushed through the crowd and towards me. He unsheathed his sword and pointed it at my neck. I screamed.
"So you decided that your life is more important than that of a young child?!" He yelled at me. I coward.
"No sir.......it was.....an accident! I swear!"
"Well that accident is your end!" He growled at me. I closed my eyes. Knowing this is the end.
"I'm sorry Hiccup." I whispered. Suddenly a loud screech was heard and I was whipped straight out of Stoick's grasp. I screamed in fright and looked up. I saw that I was being carried by a Night Fury. And when I glanced at the tail, I knew exactly who it was.
