Dreams can be beautiful. Dreams can be filled with hope and wonder. My dreams didn't quite fit the quota. I woke up with tears streaming down my cheeks. Hunter was sitting there, but his face matched mine, streaks from the tears that ran down his face, and a look of pure depression upon his face.
"Why are you crying Hunter?"
He silently giggled.
"Why are you crying Anna?"
I responded in the same little giggle.
"Honestly, i've done nothing wonderful with my life Anna. I worked for a network of people who are selfish and show no sympathy. I was sent on a mission to kill you. My father got heavy into alcohol leaving me with nobody to look up to, and I haven't had any true purpose up until now " It took me a minute or two to process the information, and I looked him in the eyes. "Hunter what's your purpose now?" I was genuinely curious.
"You." he said nothing more, but he didn't have to. I knew, there was something special, something mysterious about us, about the past. It would take time, just as everything does, but each second was something I was willing to sacrifice in order to find the root of my soul, my destiny you may say.
"Where did Amarathine and Henry live, or originate from?" I asked this question very proddingly.
"Colechester. It's a small town east of Rockport about 90 miles out. Why?"
" Well, this is a learning experience for the two of us, whether it empacts who we are, or what we are, I just need to know." I took another step towards Hunter. "I just need to know."
He locked eyes with me, and he said "You just need to know, you were always beautiful. You were always vulnerable, because deep down to your soul is pure love, kindness, and innocence. By God Anna, its been a week. 168 hours. I'm absolutely terrible at math, but alot of seconds, and I've never been happier." His smile was as luminous as the glow of every lantern in a cloud of darkness."
My eyes shifted color, partially due to my mood changes, partially due to my state of enticement. "Nobody ever said I was innocent." With that I bit my lip, and treaded towards the unknown, waiting. I could feel Hunter following behind, and I knew after all of this, after finding out my past, after meeting Hunter, my life as it is would never be the same. After all, we all take turns on the road of change, but this time it was my turn to drive. I looked over my shoulder and knew through this journey, I would always have somebody sitting in the passenger seat. I turned around, Hunter smiling at me. For the longest time, I couldn't wipe the stupid grin from my face. I was ready and so was my passenger. I grabbed his hand, and together we could conquer the world. We walked into the great unknown and we did so with our helds held high, and our hearts beating to the rhythm of the wind.
