I Refuse (Final Timeout)

I REFUSE TO BE YOUR TRAGEDY

I REFUSE TO BE AN OPTION VERSUS A PRIORITY

I REFUSE TO BE DEFINED BY SOCIETY AND SOCIALITY

I REFUSE TO BE A BODY COUNT ON A LIST OF COUNTED BODIES

I REFUSE TO BE MISTREATED

I REFUSE TO BE DEFEATED

I REFUSE TO BE LABELED BY YOUR PERCEPTIONS

I REFUSE TO BE UNHAPPY

Now I know I started this poem with some affirmations

But let me make one thing clear

I know my worth

I know my value

I know the validity of my credibility

My rapport speaks for itself

Too many times I've found myself going back and forth

With people who want to see me fail

I'm not going backwards

I'm moving forward

I don't care who chooses to respect me

I don't care who chooses to like or dislike me

I don't care who chooses to be a friend, frenemy, or enemy

I'm a movement and force

I don't need cosigners cosigning my value

I remember how I lost my mind

Went crazy trying to fit in with the culture

When the culture should've found its place with me

I don't follow trends

I set them

My style is literal lyrical lavish

Translation

I don't just set the bar

I am the bar

I refuse meaning

I shun

I brush off

I ignore

I reject

Anything and everything that does not bring me peace and love

If that includes you then it includes you
