My girl Liddy used to always smoke, cigarettes when she couldn't sleep
Logan sat up, sighing deeply. No matter what he tried, sleep just wouldn't take him. His boyfriend, Wade, snored softly beside him. He stood, grabbing something from his nightstand.
"Where are you going Kitty?" Wade's sleepy voice whispered in the dark.
"I'll be right back Wade, go back to sleep," Logan assured him.
She'd disappear for an hour and a half
Logan stood in just pajama pants, leaning over the balcony and taking a drag of his cigar. He watched the city below, a deep sadness settling in his bones. After a while, he put the cigar out and slipped back inside.
And when she'd come back she'd brush her teeth
He took a deep breath, leaning over the sink in the bathroom. He looked at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was a mess.
But I could still smell it on her raggedy tee
Wade opened his eyes a crack as he felt his boyfriend crawling back into bed, pulling Wade into his arms. The smell of the cigar he'd just smoked surrounded him, offering a strange but familiar comfort.
And I could taste it on her lips when we kiss
"Goodnight sweetheart," he turned to kiss Logan softly, tasting the cigar on his lips. He shut his eyes, letting the comfort of his lover's strong arms holding him tight.
Poor little Liddy used to always quit
"I think I'm going to quit smoking," Logan said on one random Tuesday, when the two were lounging on the couch.
"Ok kitty, that's good,"
But she never really quit, she'd just say she did
"Thought you were quitting pumpkin?" Wade asked, pulling his robe tighter around himself. He stood in the doorway of the balcony, watching his boyfriend smoke.
"I am. Just... not today," he answered gruffly.

Logan slipped out of bed, glancing at his sleeping boyfriend. Sleeping had been harder and harder recently.
I wonder what she did when she got done, I guess she'd just flick them out in the street
His mind wandered as he smoked. Things were changing, between him and Wade. They were growing apart. His heart felt heavy as he flicked the cigarette off the balcony. He wasn't really sure when he'd changed from cigars to cigarettes, but Wade was. Wade always knew everything.
Poor little Liddy, she wishes it was dark. But it's never really dark in L.A.
His chest felt tight as he ran a hand through his hair. Everything felt too bright, too awake. It didn't match his solemn mood.
The light from the billboard always shines
Wade stood on the balcony, a cigarette between his fingers. The billboard across the street bathed him in light, a stark contrast to what he felt.
But it changed twelve times since you went away
12. That's the amount of times the billboard had changed since Logan left. It was a way to measure the amount of time, since that fateful night when he'd simply packed up and left without a word. A way to keep him grounded.
You'll find moonlit nights strangely empty, because when you call my name through them, there will be no answer
"I miss you Logan," he whispered, looking up at the moon. Logan had to be looking at the same moon, maybe even thinking of him. Probably not.
Rather melodramatic, aren't you?
Logan's soft, playful voice echoed in his head. He missed that voice. He hoped he never forgot what he sounded like, what he smelt like, tasted like.
