The Peony
One interesting origin story of the peony comes from Greek mythology, involving two gods: Paeon, a student of Asclepius (the god of medicine and healing). When Paeon used the milky liquid from a peony root to cure Pluto of an illness, Asclepius became jealous of his student's skill. Enraged, he planned to kill Paeon, but Zeus intervened to save him, transforming Paeon into a peony flower.
For centuries, the peony has symbolized healing, with its seeds and roots commonly used in herbal teas and medicines to treat various ailments. Gifting someone a peony flower represents support for their healing journey, whether it's physical or emotional. Small gestures of belief in their recovery can make a meaningful difference.
