You had been on a hunt without any knowing and unfortunately you didn't make it out alive, dean had gotten a phone call saying that you didn't make unfortunately and then dean just broke down crying because he would never get to see you again or hear you're voice or see you and love you.
Sam and dean had gone to you're place to look around and at you're desk there were two letters addressed for sam and one for dean and sam picked them up and as the guys were finished looking around couldn't see anything suspicious, they had left and went back to bunker dean went straight to his room and opened the letter that you wrote for him.

As you may know i didn't make it out alive unfortunately, this job is scary but it's we do and sometimes we don't make it in the end because we know how this thing goes and i guess you could say it was just my time.
I'm sorry that i left you, my love just know that you were special and forever will be special too me and i loved you, and i know we were planning our future and how we wanted to live it, i'm sorry that we can do that now but remember i love you, and i am forever with you now

As dean finished the letter he was tears and he started thinking about how you two met and how much you loved each other, dean was gonna be okay eventually he knew that but for now he needed to grieve you're loss that's all he wanted to do.
