A Place To Stay

Mari pulled up at the apartment complex and yawned. They had stayed late, finding the wallet to be Peter's. There wasn't anything suspicious about it. They also did the autopsy, nothing extraordinary either. Just what Mari had seen: bullet through the skull. But they were able to identify the type of bullet, so they can track down the gun, etc. etc.

She climbed out of the car and walked up to the building. The first thing she did was grab the mail and begin sorting through the envelopes as she went up the elevator.

She came across one that looked like it was from the owners of the complex. She furrowed her eyebrows as she stepped through her front door.

She threw the other envelopes on the table and tore open the one in her hand.

Her eyes widened at what the letter said, and she could feel tears begin to fall.

"Hey, sweetheart," David's fiancé said when he walked through the door.

He smiled and gave her a kiss before walking into the kitchen. He threw together a sandwich and collapsed onto the bed.

Sabrina, his fiancé, sighed.

"Another long day?"

"And no where near closer to tracking down the killer," he grumbled before taking a bite of his sandwich.

"It's the same guy who's killed three other people," he said after swallowing. "We know because it's in the same alleyway, with the same method. And they're all guys, all accompanied by their girlfriends."

He paused. "Except for the Joey guy. He was with his boyfriend Shane."

"So Joey died?" Sabrina asked, rubbing his back."

"All of the victims were Matthew Sohinki, he was the first, and then Joey Graceffa, who was the second, then third was Joshua Ovenshire, and then most recent was Peter Kitch."

"And they were all with the people they were dating?"

"Yup."

"Any idea at all as to who it might be?"

"Well, we have one guy in mind, this guy named Felix Kjellberg, but it might not be him, because there were people saying that he was chubby. I'm not sure, we're planning on bringing in a lineup soon for all of the witnesses, who were these people named Miranda, Shane, Erin, and Mari, to look at. We might narrow it down."

Sabrina nodded.

"The Mari girl was Peter's girlfriend. She's working with me on the case."

"So she's a detective?"

David laughed. "No, she's stubborn."

He pulled out the necklace she gave him from his pocket.

"What's that?"

"She gave this to me as a reminder that all the people I work with have lives and feelings. And she told me to not forget it."

"How is a necklace supposed to-"

"It's a long story."

"I've got time."

David sighed and moved across the room to place the necklace on the top of the dresser.

"I don't really want to talk about it."

Sabrina nodded. "Alright. Now come on, it's almost midnight."

David snatched up his pajamas and as he began to pull his shirt off, he heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll get it," Sabrina yawned.
