This chapter is short, but I wanted to get something out for you guys.
Long time no see! I'm going to work on this more frequently, I promise, now that school's out. Is anyone even still reading this or did you all give up on me lmao
Nothing much happens in this chapter, but again, I needed to let you guys know I'm still alive wOw

"David, why have you postponed our wedding?"

Sabrina watched him stiffen in the kitchen, holding tightly to the handle of the pot of pasta, spoon stilled and no longer stirring.

"Because we need more time to plan."

"David, we have everything done. I've picked out a dress, we've picked our theme, colors, music... we've finished everything on our list."

David coughed. "Well..."

"You're not getting cold feet, are you?"

He didn't answer.

"David."

He looked over his shoulder at his fiancé and bit his lip.

"David Moss."

"Brina-"

"Do you want to take a break? What's going on?"

"Brina, please-"

"Because if that's what's going on, fine, we can sort things that need to be sorted out-"

She was interrupted by his lips on her's, and she kissed back immediately, lacing her arms around his neck and sighing.

The pasta was forgotten as they moved into the bedroom, and Sabrina didn't bring up the postponement again.

The next day, Mari came back up to the building. David had put her back on the team with a small wink, and if any of the others had noticed their sneaky glances dripping with deeper meanings, they didn't speak up.

"New leads," David announced as Mari sat down in the chair across from him. "They managed to track down the gun."

Mari raised her eyebrows. "And?"

"It was in an abandoned house a couple neighborhoods over. Summerset Drive, you know the place?"

"It's where I grew up."

"Well, then you'll be familiar with it. We're going to the house to investigate, grab your things."

Mari smiled and nodded, picking up her purse, and when she turned to face David, he was inches away from her.

Her eyes widened as he backed her up against the wall and smiled.

His lips met her's, and she felt as his arms wrapped around her waist.

They stayed like that for a short amount of time, kissing in David's office, before David lifted his hand to hold the back of her neck.

Suddenly, she felt the cool metal of his engagement ring pressed against her skin. Her eyes flew open.

You're kissing an engaged man, Mari, he's getting married soon, stop, you're ruining everything, you're supposed to be mourning the love of your-

"Are you okay?"

Her mind quieted as she looked into his eyes.

She gave him a brief nod, and they separated from each other, finally leaving the office, and with the pit of Mari's stomach filled with dread.
