"All rise for the honorable judge" Said by the bailiff when the judge came. Tumayo naman kaming lahat. "Department One of the Superior Court is now in session. Judge Alejandro presiding"
I stared at the judge. He is I think in his 50's. May kalakihan ang pangangatawan. Puti na ang buhok at may suot na salamin. Hawak nito ang mga dokumento sa kamay. Nang marating nito ang kaniyang puwesto ay inilapag niya ang mga dokumento.
"Please be seated" The bailiff said when the judge seated.
Umupo naman kaming lahat. Nang magsimula na ang trial ay inilagay ko ang ilang takas ng buhok sa likod ng aking tainga. Suot ko ngayon ang earings na bigay nila sa akin. Isa itong espesyal na hikaw dahil mayroon itong maliit na 360° camera na maaaring makita ang sinumang mahagip ng lens nito. I'm sure nanonood ngayon ang boss namin.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of Amora Delgado versus Clash Delgado. Are both sides ready?" The judge said.
"Ready, Your honor" Said by the plaintiff's attorney.
"Ready for the defense, Your honor" The defendant's attorney said.
While the judge asked the clerk to swear in the jury, I was busy scanning each one of them. Mukhang live ang gaganaping hearing ngayon. Inaasahan ko na itong mangyari dahil hindi simpleng tao ang sangkot sa krimen na ito. Clash Delgado is the governor of this town.
Pagkatapos magsalita ng clerk ay sunod naman ang mga attorney ng magkabilang kuponan. This is when each attorney can tell the jury what evidence they will present during the trial. Naunang magsalita ang attorney ng plaintiff.
"Your Honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: the defendant has been charged with the crime of killing his own children in their home. The evidence will show that he was found at the crime scene on the day of August 28th. The defendant was arrested on that exact day when his own wife found him at the crime scene. The defendant’s fingerprints were found on the neck of their children, which is also the reason for suffocation. The evidence I present will prove to you that the defendant is guilty as charged."
I crossed my legs. Mukhang matibay ang ebidensiya sa kabilang kampo. Nakakaloka lang kasi kung bakit walang cctv ang kanilang bahay kahit mayaman naman. Hindi ko tuloy alam kung sino sa kanilang dalawa ang nagsasabi ng totoo. Tumayo naman si Valerio bitbit ang isang papeles.
"Your Honor, and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: under the law, my client is presumed innocent until proven guilty. During this trial, you will hear no real evidence against my client. You will come to know the truth: that Clash Delgado came into their house and found the lifeless bodies of their children on the floor. He tried to resuscitate them, but it was too late. Therefore, my client is not guilty of the crime."
Ilang sandali pa ay naramdaman ko ang pag-vibrate ng phone ko. It was a message coming from Wagon.
'Something's off with the prints that you have sent to me. There are other hand prints that don't match with Mr. and Mrs. Delagado'
