"Welcome to Taesan Law firm Miss. Yoon Mirae!" Jeon Jungmin greeted Mirae with his signature dimple smile.
"Thank You so much Mr. Jeon! I'll try my best to not disappoint you."
"Of course you will and now better drop that honorific" he rolled his eyes.
"But since you are my boss from now on and we are in the office hours, it's better you get used to it Mr. Jeon". Mirae teased him by pressing on the last words.
"Since my new junior attorney is stubborn, there is no point in arguing. Then let's just keep it professional. But once out of this building just call me oppa as you always do. Okay?"
He let out a small sigh. He knew she was stubborn when it came to ethics. Jungmin was her senior in Law school and currently, the head of Seoul's number one law firm – Taesan which was founded by his great grandfather. Moreover, he was the son of none other than Mirae's one and only role model, Jeon Son Myung, the most efficient lawyer in the country itself. He had this great aura radiating from his handsome face whenever they met, especially when she watched him defending her father in the court when her mother dragged the divorce case to court unnecessarily just because she had to torture him for who knows why! That's when the five-year-old Mirae decided to become a lawyer even if it could cause the wrath of Lee Mi Seon, her mother, the great business woman and Director of Saphire International.
Just like Taesan, her family owned a hotel business chain spread across SK, Japan, China and Thailand, an empire built by her great grandparents. She had everything, at least when others looked from outside. Her parents got divorced for reasons unknown. But as far as she knew it was definitely her mother not father who was the problem. She was close to her father. So close that she cried herself to sleep everyday after he left. Yes, Mirae never saw him after they divorced. And she was sure it was her mother who might have fled him. She always had this seriousness and arrogance that often-made people scared of her. But she was powerful and knew how to keep people in her line, just like how she is doing with her daughter's life.
Talking about Lee Miseon, she has a very bad history with Jeon Son Myung which obviously made him on her blacklist. Mirae has heard from the maids that her mother was arranged for him by their parents and she really liked him for a long time. But he was already in a relationship, his now wife, for whom he rejected the proposal. Both the families gladly accepted the situation and moved on but not Miseon. She couldn't let the rejection slide for which she still holds a grudge against the Jeons. Mirae's father Yoon Ji-Sung was the newly appointed chef in the Seoul main branch of Sapphire. He was young, handsome and a man of manners. Miseon fell for him, more like she wanted to show her ex-fiancé, who was then happily married, that she moved on. Even though he belonged to a middle-class family her parents were more than happy with their communion as Jisung was a gem of a person. But little did they know their daughter was bullying him throughout their six year long married life. Mirae never got any love and attention from her mother, nor did her father get any. She almost thought that's how families work until she met others in the rich business parties where her mother had to tag her along. She was more than happy in her little world with her beloved father. Their divorce was all of a sudden, Jisung never wanted it because he loved his daughter. He knew what would happen to her in that big mansion once he's gone. But however, he had to. She never asked her mother why, because she was scared of her.
Mirae has been matured and independent since her childhood. She only saw her mother occasionally, either early in the morning when she rushed to go for work or in the night when she would come late and straight away go to her room. Mirae never had a heartfelt conversation with her mother, it was always orders and warnings which came from her. Despite all these, the only thing she wanted was to become a lawyer at Teasan. She was the topper throughout her school and college years, more like she had no other option. It was all fine until Mirae graduated from law school, but her mother never wanted her to join Taesan. But she stood firm with her ambition and eventually she agreed, which Mirae suspected why.
Coming back to Jungmin, he was Mirae's college senior. He was doing his first year of LLM when she joined Seoul National University for LLB. She has known the Jeons since childhood. She was even classmates with their second son Jungkook. Well, he was totally different from his older brother. If Jungmin was ambitious and brilliant like his father, Jungkook was a carefree teenager who had no idea what to do with life, at least until she saw him the last time, which was after their high-school graduation. But still, they all were handsome and had those super cute dimple smiles which girls used to die for. Yes, they were popular among girls, but Mirae never saw the brothers acquainted with any, not even Jungkook, the social butterfly..
Jungmin was the topper in his batch, and as he knew Mirae before college he used to help her with studies whenever they met at the university library, which was very rare as they had different schedules. He was always like an older brother to her which she never had. He would always pass a smile and ask about her well being whenever they crossed paths in between lectures. But all this was for just two years because he graduated then.

"How's work Miss. Yoon?"
Mirae looked up from the case file, smiling at the familiar voice. "Good afternoon Mr. Jeon. I'm still learning about Taesan by the way"
"That's good. Anyways, I'm heading home for lunch and just wanted to ask if you would like to join?" He asked.
"Me, Sir?" She was startled with his sudden question.
"No, not you Ms. Yoon. Just wondering if my favourite junior would like to come home with me because, apparently my father, whom she has been fangirling over for so long, wants to meet her as he cannot join office any time soon" he said with no change in expression which brought a mix of emotions in her. Of course, she wanted to meet him, she was excited to know that he himself wants to meet her, at the same time the image of her mom after knowing her friendly visit to her ex-fiancé's house started haunting her.
"Are you thinking of your mom Mirae?" Jungmin asked as if he read her thoughts. Well, the Jeons seems to have the ability to read minds, because his brother used to do the same to Mirae.
She nodded a yes, biting her lips. He let out a chuckle and said "Come on Mirae, it's not like she's spying on you all the time. She's not gonna know unless you tell her. Just come, dad will be happy".
"Okay then, let's go!" She said smiling even if she had the slightest fear of her mom finding out.
