Mirae was back from court with Jungmin after the final hearing of the Aster scandal which they succeeded. Jungmin was happy for his junior while she was not even feeling an ounce of happiness for her first victory. She felt like a void, who can't even feel emotions because everything was too overwhelming for her.
Wedding is supposed to happen the next week and still nothing happened to get it cancelled, moreover she was hurt from what happened three days ago at the mall. She still felt bad about what Taehyung said, and he didn't even bother to apologise till now. Besides, Jungkook was giving her a cold shoulder from then. He didn't even utter a single word on the way back and so did her. She didn't know what she should say when he's already pissed off. But she texted him a sorry in the evening which was left on seen. It's been three days since she heard anything from him.
-"Mirae, are you here?" Jungmin asked, tapping her head gently.
-"Mmmh, yeah. What did you say?" she said getting out of her thoughts.
-"I was talking to you for the last five minutes. Seems like you were so busy with your thoughts. You seem a bit off. Everything okay?" he asked.
-"No, I'm fine. Just a headache" she lied.
-"That's why I said not to overwork. Just go home and rest now. You did a great job today so just take a couple of days off from tomorrow." he said and she gave him a small smile nodding. She wanted a break for sure.
Exiting the office building with a tired face and mind, Mirae tightly held the coat around her to get more warmth. She took slow steps but halted when noticed someone waiting for her, leaning on his car which was parked a few metres in front of her. They stood there for a minute staring at each other, not moving. She again took slow steps and stood before him taking a good look at his face which she missed for the last three days. She noticed his tired eyes and dark circles which clearly showed he too had sleepless nights.
-"Can we talk?" he asked to which she just nodded.
-"I'm sorry." he said and she could see he really meant it with the look he had.
-"Why?"
-"For ignoring you. I'm really sorry"
-"Why did you ignore me?"
-"I felt bad for not doing anything for you. I have promised to get you out of this but still I'm here, doing nothing for it, letting you get insulted. I feel miserable Mirae." He said it like he was on the verge of breaking down any moment. She could see how his eyes turned glassy and lips quivered but still controlled himself from crying. So was Mirae, but the difference was she wanted to cry and release her emotional baggage which is haunting her but still she can't. She felt bad seeing him in this state just because of her inability to take stand for herself. She knew moving forward like this would only hurt the people who cared for her, Jungkook, Yeonsu, and Jungmin. She wanted to disappear from there forever. She felt her breath getting uneven with every passing moment like she would lose consciousness soon. She tightly shut her eyes clutching on to the hem of her coat while he observed her with worry.
"Mirae?" he called her, holding onto her shoulders.
-"C..Can you take me from here, pls?" she asked and without wasting any second Jungkook opened his car door for her and made her sit in the passenger seat, fixing the seat belt for her. He ran to the other side, quickly got inside and ignited the engine.
Speeding through the busy roads of Gangnam, he kept on taking glances at her, panicking, while she laid with her head back on the seat, eyes closed. Parking the car to a side he turned to look at her.
