After a lot of analysing and evaluation, Mirae decided to confront her father. She came downstairs in her pyjamas, for breakfast but was surprised to see her mom at the dining table, in her formal clothing. If her memory serves right, it was at least two years ago she had a meal with her mom.
"Good morning Mirae" Miseon said looking at her daughter who was standing confused half way at the stairs.
'Is the world ending!' "Good morning mom"
Coming down from the stairs, she seated herself opposite to her mom at the long dining table. Her breakfast was already at the dining table waiting for her. "How's work at Taesan? Are they treating you good?" She asked and Mirae looked at her and blinked several times. 'Am I hallucinating? Or is this universe's way of giving me hints that I'm nearing my end?'
"It's all good. But I don't understand why you're talking friendly with me in the first place? That too early in the morning" she said.
"Thought of spending some quality time with my daughter before sending her off." Miseon said with a smile which didn't fail to irritate her daughter.
"Oh yeah, I forgot. You must be happy to get rid of the burden you have been carrying for years" Mirae scoffed.
"You're not a burden Mirae. Why can't you understand I'm doing all this for you only" Miseon crossed her arms over chest, sitting straight.
"Oh really! You must be so generous to make a business deal out of your only daughter by marrying her off to someone who doesn't even want her" Mirae snapped back.
"It's not just business Mirae. I don't want what happened to me to happen to you too. I trust Taehyung with you. It's not even like you hate him. You both have known each other since childhood. If you can't make him fall for you, even years after engagement, is it my fault?" and with that begins a verbal spat.
"Are you for real mom? I'm not that pathetic to 'make someone fall for me'! I don't want to marry someone who doesn't love me. Is that clear? Now you being the caring and loving mother, cancel the wedding. Prove that you truly care" she yelled at her mother for the first time and she felt satisfied even if it meant she'll be locked up in her room.
"Yoon Mirae, are you raising your voice at your mother? Is it what I'm getting back for raising you up sacrificing my whole life? Would you be happy if I ran away from you like your father did, you ungrateful child!"
Mirae felt a sudden urge to throw things at her mom for bringing up her dad when she clearly knows who is at fault. But she still chose to speak.
"Don't you dare bring my dad into this. I'm glad at least he escaped from this hell, from you" Mirae knew what was going to happen next when she saw her mom standing up from her seat abruptly and took fast steps towards her. A loud voice of slap echoed in the room while the maids who were watching the drama covered their mouths in shock. Mirae sat covering her left cheek with her hand which was now burning with stinging pain. She completely ignored the little bruise at the corner of her lips caused by the slap, neither she uttered a word nor shifted from her position until her mom continued to speak.
"You're marrying Taehyung and that's final" She said and quickly walked out of the house.
"If it happens, forget you ever had a daughter" Mirae said which made her mom's steps halt for a second, but still chose to ignore it and walk away.

Fifteen minutes had already passed since Mirae reached Wooyoung's Chicken cafe. But she was still in her car, hesitant to come out. The incidents from the morning definitely ignited a fire within her to fight against her mom which made her come till there, but she felt the power within her weakening as she was almost in front of her dad. She was scared. Clutching on to the steering wheel tightly she leaned her head down there, eyes closed. The sudden message made her jolt back and it was a much needed one for the time being.
