She was everywhere, yet she was nowhere.

She was all, yet she was one.

She was splintered into the moments of her life, each one taken, each one nurtured, each one loved and examined and gently replaced when every facet had been known. Her pride, her joy, her sadness and guilt, each one treasured and caressed.

Every memory was valuable. Every emotion was on display.

She was nothing, but she was all.

Scared. Scared, yet persisted.

Another memory. Another flash of life, of what she'd been.

Willing to sacrifice that most precious for the life of another. Willing to lose every single one so another's may continue.

Warmth. Strength. A presence, everywhere that was greater than herself, yet not. A presence that was nothing without her.

These we will keep for you. These we will hold. They are too precious to be lost, and we have been starved for so long. So long, and finally, our hunger will no longer need to feed on itself and open us the yawning darkness around.

A flame before her. Hardened. Gleaming. Crystal.

Whole.

Return.
