16. Kiss him?

"I need to get married and have an heir to completely take over my company."

You are not sure what reason you had expected him to have but definitely not something like that. But all of it made sense to you now. This is something what your boss would do, he always managed to turn any situation to his favour. This was no exception.

". . .But why?"

"Hm, let's just say my father tried to make sure that I settle down and start a family. But he trusted the wrong people which is why I'm sort of in a rush." He says nonchalantly as he continues to chew on his food.

Isn't he worried at all?

"So what happens if you don't marry soon? "

"I lose the company that my father worked so hard to build. "

Your eyes go wide at that. You hadn't realized the situation went that deep. It also kinda makes you want to take the decision right away. But you know you shouldn't, you need to think about this long and hard.

"I'm sorry that you have to go through this." You say as you bite down on your lips, not sure what else to say. That is when he finally looks at your face. But then you notice him looking down at your lips. You let go of them immediately and avert your eyes.

"You don't need to worry about all that though. I'm only telling you because you asked."

"Yes, don't worry I won't. But I need some time to think about it. "

A chilly breeze starts to graze your bare face and neck and you pull your arms around yourself before the cold air completely overcomes you.

You're not sure why but the air has started to feel a little heavy all of a sudden. It's the same feeling that you have after a first date, the back and forth between thinking if you should kiss or go home.

But it's not a date and that's not at all what you should be thinking about right now. Yet, his intense stare makes you stir at your seat.

"Alright. Take your time. Since we're both done with the food I should drop you home now."

"Oh no, please don't bother, I can just take a taxi home," You protest as you both get up from your seat and start towards the entrance.

"I don't think you can find one around here, so just let me drop you. It's pretty late."

"Okay."

The moment you two are about to step out of the restaurant, the elderly lady chimes with a wide smile on her face, "Hope to see you two more often!"

But it is your boss's response that surprises you more when he replies with a 'don't worry you will'.

The car drive back home was pretty silent. Before you got out of Taehyung's car earlier he had said he will be waiting for your answer.

The moment you step inside your apartment your best friend jumps at you with a squeal.

"OH MY GOSH! Where were you? I've been calling you for so long! And you were supposed to home 2 hours earlier!"

"Wait. . . Lef me. . ." You try to speak but your voice comes out muffled as the koala who also seemed to be your best friend was clinging to you in a way that you couldn't even breathe.
