I was laying down on the couch, just getting off the phone with my mother. I told her I'd swing through later. I went in my call log and stopped on a familiar number and smirked.

I pushed the call button and put the phone to my ear. After the last ring, they finally answered.

"Hello?"

"Trenton my man, how you doing? Its been a minute hasn't it." He sighed.

"Whats up Jayce."

"How's that arm doing?" I chuckled.

"Fine, why the fuck you calling me?" I poked out my lip and nodded.

"Don't be acting tough and shit over this fucking phone Trenton. I'll come to where you at and blow yo fucking head off, and it won't be your arm this time." I spat.

"Yeah man whatever."

"Don't think I'm playing either." I didn't wait for him to reply as I hung up.

Shit, I was just trying to be nice and see how the nigga arm was doing. I shrugged while getting up, pulling my Citrus Jordan's back on. Grabbing my keys off the table, heading out.

Time to go see mama dukes, I thought while stepping out the house.

Since the incident with my father, it seems that I started to realize things more. I recently got a call from my basketball coach a few days ago.

He's telling me I need to get back in the game if I really do want to fulfill my basketball dream, so I have.

I've been back in the gym like I've used to be. Tavaris has been helping me a lot lately and I can finally say, I think I'm falling for him.

I know right, I can't believe I'm saying this either. But I've never felt so much attention from a guy in my life. Good attention to be exact.

No beating, getting cussed out, raping, no nothing. Its perfect, and we're not even together. I might make the move an settle down, like Nia always said.

Me and my mother still aren't on talking terms since the fight with my dad.

I felt like she took up for him, rather then me. Telling me to get off of him, knowing he was the one beating me. Oh so I have to get off of him? He must be more important.

Tavaris cut off my thinking,

"What you over there thinking about?" I sighed.

"Just regular stuff, basketball, my mom." I trailed off.

He put his arm around my shoulder.

"You need to talk yo your mom's. Cause this beefing y'all got going on is unacceptable. Yeah y'all gone fight, shit me and my mom's get into sometimes. But she my rock, I probably wouldn't be the man I am today."

I was silent, taking in the words he was saying."

"You feel me?"

"Yeah, I understand."

"Good." We walked back inside his house, after having a little walk to clear our minds on things.

"You staying?" I chuckled.

"I have a house to you know." He bit his lip.

"I know, where you heading to then?" I grabbed my jacket and car keys.

"If you must know, I'm stopping by Nia's then heading home." I smirked at him. He ran his hand down his face.

"Alright then. Call me when you make it home." I nodded.
