Special Appearance: Seungho (MBLAQ)
—————————————"Are we there yet?" Kyuhyun whined from the backseat, his voice echoing through the car.
Leeteuk, focusing on the winding mountain road, replied without taking his eyes off the road, "Almost."
As the car climbed higher, the air grew crisp, the chill seeping into the cabin despite the closed windows. Heechul, in the passenger seat, pulled out a map from the glove compartment, his breath misting in the cold. He studied it intently, tracing the route with a gloved finger. "We should be there in about five minutes," he announced, folding the map back into place.
Yesung leaned over Heechul's shoulder, peering out the window at the quaint shops and cafes that lined the cobblestone street. His stomach rumbled, the smell of fresh bread and coffee wafting in from a nearby bakery. "Why don't we start with the town's café strip?" he suggested, his voice filled with hope.
But Zhoumi had other plans. "Guys, I forgot to grab some snacks. Can we stop at the convenience store?" His eyes searched the street for a familiar logo, his stomach protesting the lack of food.
Leeteuk nodded, pulling the car over at the next available spot. "I'll come with you."
Zhoumi and Kyuhyun hopped out of the car, the cool mountain breeze hitting them like a surprise. The convenience store was small and cozy, a stark contrast to the grandeur of the city they were used to. Kyuhyun immediately beelined for the snack aisle, his eyes widening at the unfamiliar brands and flavors. Meanwhile, Zhoumi headed straight to the counter, where a steamer filled with fluffy buns called to him. He grabbed a piping hot one, feeling the warmth seep into his palm. The scent of pork and vegetables was irresistible. He also picked out a bag of spicy seaweed chips, knowing Kyuhyun would love them.
Leeteuk trailed after them, his eyes lingering on the cabin in the distance. It was a charming sight, nestled among the evergreens with smoke gently curling from its stone chimney. It looked like it had been plucked from the pages of a storybook. The thought of exploring such a place tickled his curiosity, and he found himself wishing they had time to check it out.
They reached the cabin, the gravel crunching under their feet as they approached. It was even more inviting up close, with a well-maintained porch adorned with potted plants and a swing swaying lazily in the breeze. The wooden boards of the cabin were sturdy underfoot as they climbed the steps, each creak telling a story of past visitors.
Heechul took charge, his curiosity piqued by the quiet mountain retreat. He raised his hand to knock on the door, the chill of the metal knob seeping through his glove. His heart hammered in anticipation, not quite knowing what to expect on the other side. With a deep breath, he rapped his knuckles against the aged wood. The sound echoed through the quiet afternoon, bouncing off the towering trees that surrounded them.
the door finally opened and it was Seungho, the owner of the wood cabin, with a wide smile and a hearty laugh that filled the porch. "Welcome, welcome! I've been waiting for you!" His warm greeting was as comforting as the cabin's exterior had been inviting.
They stepped inside, the scent of pine and a hint of something sweet—perhaps apple pie—filling their nostrils. The interior was cozy and lived-in, with a mix of antique furniture and modern conveniences that somehow blended together seamlessly. A crackling fireplace cast a warm glow across the wooden floorboards, and a cat lazily stretched on a plush armchair, eyeing them with a yawn before deciding they were not a threat and resuming its nap.
Seungho ushered them in, taking their jackets and hanging them on a wooden rack by the door. "Please, make yourselves at home," he said, gesturing to the plush couches arranged around a large wooden table. The cabin's warmth enveloped them like a warm blanket, and they couldn't help but shed their outer layers, feeling the heat of the fireplace and the welcoming ambiance wash over them.
On the table, steaming mugs of hot chocolate waited for them, topped with marshmallows that bobbed gently in the frothy liquid. The aroma was heavenly, a blend of rich cocoa and cream that seemed to dance in the air. Kyuhyun was the first to grab one, blowing gently before taking a tentative sip. His eyes lit up, and he passed a mug to Zhoumi, who took it gratefully. They all settled in, the tension of the trip dissipating as the warmth of the beverage seeped into their bones.
Seungho excused himself to the kitchen, his laughter trailing behind him like the scent of the apple pie. Ryeowook, Eunhyuk, and Donghae claimed the couch nearest the fireplace, their laughter growing louder as they recounted stories of past adventures. The crackling fire popped and spat, sending sparks dancing up the chimney, mirroring the lightness in their hearts. Yesung sat at the piano, his fingers dancing over the keys in a soft melody that filled the cabin with a gentle serenity.
