03| The Diner
"So, what do you think?" I was nudged in the arm by my red head friend. What did I think? I found the diner to be a lively place. Popular songs played as people laughed and talked to each other. People were in and out of the place, occasionally there were a few who would walk in and it was as if they owned the place. Bob came through the diners doors and everyone stopped to greet him as he went to find us a booth.
I looked to the left where Marcia was sitting, "I think it's a great place to buy ice cream from." She rolled her eyes and got up.
"What flavor?" The girl asked.
"Vanilla." I smiled to myself as I watched Marcia walk away and towards an employee.
"She likes you." Cherry pointed out, making my eyes met hers. "And so does someone else..." I followed Cherrys gaze and soon came to realize they were heading towards Danny.
He and a few other guys sat in a couple booths down. We had the option to sit with them but Cherry insisted that we girls need a break from them and will go sit somewhere else.
"Danny?" I questioned. I found the idea of him liking me strange. It felt weird and maybe even random, but Marcia and Cherry have been sending me some not so subtle messages about Danny. "I barely know the guy."
"You can get to know him. Wait, is he not your type?"
"I don't have a type..." The words faded in the air when something- Someone had caught my attention, making me forget all about my little conversation with Cherry.
The two Greasers from earlier walked into the diner. Pony boy and Johnny. I think? I over heard Bob talking to Randall and he describe the boys from earlier perfectly. Unfortunately, I couldn't fully understand nor hear why Hob had mentioned them in the first place, but i'm sure it's no big deal...
I had not expected to see them here, but the more I watched them from a far a thought came to mind. I could just give the notebook to them now. Might as well.
"Danny is a nice guy. Why don't you give him a try?" My head snapped towards Cherry, who was playing with her basket of crinkle cut fries. "Do you at least find him attractive?" She asked.
"I-" My train of thoughts was cut off by the sound a males voice from behind.
"Find who attractive?"
When Cherry and I turnt around, we each had a different expression on our faces. The red head seemed amused. Meanwhile, I had a look of shock on my face because the person who we were just talking about is standing right there.
"You," My fired bluntly said to Danny. She grunt around and sneaky smile crept onto her lips.
Danny stared at me for a few seconds before he came to his sense and decided to sit down in our booth, opposite from me.
"Is that so?" He smirked. "All good things, I hope." It was clear that Danny was teasing us, but it felt like I was the only one feeling embarrassed.
I awkwardly smiled at his cockiness, "Don't worry, we hadn't got too far into the conversation to say anything and about you...yet." I added the last part in hopes that it would take away from the awkward tension.
