San nearly doubled over laughing when she saw you burst out the front gates of your house, toast between teeth with a dazed look of urgency. Today marked the first day of high school, and you weren't quite prepared. San noticed that quite well. She offered to hold your bag for you but you shook your head, swallowing the last bits of toast before you two headed off for school.

"San-chan?" She looked over, waiting to hear what you had to say. "I'm worried about today... About being left out. Again."

She sighed, and for a moment you panicked, thinking you had annoyed her with your insecurities. Instead, she eased into a smile. "Silly, don't worry about such trivial things."

"Easy for you to say..." you retorted, swinging your arms back and forth out of habit. "What if we end up in different classes? I mean, I'm not exactly stellar at making friends."

"If you get all caught up worrying about those matters, you'll never see the big picture," San said. "You have to understand that even if we don't get into the same class, you are capable of being your own independent self. You're capable of making plenty of friends, [Name], there's going to be someone out there for you."

"That's so corny, San...!" you grinned, watching San roll her eyes at your complete disregard for her advice.

"Either way, I'll still be around," she said. "Don't forget that, okay?"
