"[Name]..."

Groggily, you opened your eyes and felt a tuft of hair snuggling up against your chest. Warmth overtook your body. One arm wrapped around your side, another creeping its way to your hair. Fingers gently ruffled your hair, easing you into a smile.

"Kyouya..."

Did that voice belong to you?

You snapped into focus, and the unforgettable blond hair met your gaze. Kyouya was sleeping soundly, but somehow his hands had gotten entangled in your hair, which you didn't mind. The sight of vulnerable Kyouya. How long it'd been since you've witnessed it firsthand. Even in his sleep he managed to protrude a grumpy aura, but it was softer this time. Maybe it was the slight smile pursed onto his lips that gave it away. Maybe it was how peaceful he sounded with every deep breath he took.

You couldn't help it. The covers made way for your hands, which you placed onto his cheek. Your finger slowly traced his lips, cheek, nose, giving it a gentle poke.

If only this moment would last forever.

Could it?

Kyouya's body shifted. You retracted your hand, knowing just how much of a temper Kyouya had with you touching him. Even though he was clearly touching you. You puffed your cheeks a little in mild protest, knowing he couldn't hear.

"Oh Kyouya..." you hummed. Like a mother caressing her child, you pushed aside his hair resting on his shut eyes.

Just watching him in his sleep, it was relaxing. Easing. Relieving. Is this what it meant to be in love?

Love.

You swallowed the words down, lifting your upper body from the bed.

"Stay."

It felt like crushing reality when your eyes adjusted to see a hospital bed. The morning light and the feeling of waking up to someone you love beside you, shattered to pieces. Were they even there? Maybe it would have been better if you never woke up at all, letting the soft bed occupied with two to slowly drown your sorrows into eternity.

"What is it? Don't just get up so suddenly."

"K-Kyouya?" you choked out pathetically. For some reason, your physical body was weighing you down. Pain. Ache. Everywhere.

"Ayumi had to go take an errand, if that's what's keeping you up."

"That's... not it."

"Are you wasting my time then?"

"...Kyouya."

"What?"

"Why are you here?"

"I'm just taking care of my dog."

You clenched onto your hospital bed sheets.

"I... really need you to be serious, Kyouya."

"What would you like me to say?"

"The real reason you're here," you said. "I don't understand you."

"I'm an open book," he stated. "If you'd just look closely, maybe you could figure it out."

"I beg to differ."

"Of course, dogs do beg for their owners."

"I need you to hear me out."

"Listening."

"What do you do," you turned to face him, cheeks burning, voice shaky. "Once you realize you've fallen in love with a sadistic bastard?"

He amusedly brought his hand to your chin, tilting it gently. His fingers wrapped around the back of your neck, time seeming to come to a halt. Your mind was racing. Heart was throbbing. You were breathing so loud. Too loud. Afraid that Kyouya would hear...

His lips missed yours. Instead, you felt a hot breath against your ear, slowly speaking.

"You leave him."

It was a tease.

Your entire body collapsed and you could finally breathe, disappointed, but just before he let you go, his hands on the back of your neck crept down to your back and pressed your entire body against his. Was this even happening?

Eyes widening, your face buried into the softness of Kyouya's chest, his arms wrapped around you tightly. Like a lost puppy, you thought. All the soreness had gone stray; a new feeling of warmth had enveloped your entire body. This was different from the dream. The dream felt like a distant memory, an all too fake reality that was so plastic compared to Kyouya's real warmth.

Time had passed. But he wasn't letting go.

"But don't..." he muttered into your ear, holding you even closer. "Leave me."
