You winced as the door to the classroom creaked open, revealing a set of thirty eyes staring down at you. All their attention locked onto you, only you, and you gulped in fear when the teacher turned to see who had coincidentally disrupted at the class.

"You're late," he remarked, as if you hadn't already known. "Take a seat." He motioned with his hand to the empty seat in the corner.

You obediently swarm past the crowd of observers and plopped down into the seat with a huff. The teacher continued his lesson and the class gradually lost interest but you felt rather defeated. The first day of school and you already had managed to be late and become the center of attention.

"You did want to people to notice you." You could practically hear San's sarcastic comment in the silent classroom.

As soon as the bell rang, most of the class piled out of the room and headed straight for the cafeteria, leaving you and a few students to bask in the relaxed atmosphere.

Your stomach growled at the thought of food, and in response you reached out for your lunchbox somewhere in your bag, only to come back with nothing. Wonderful. Nothing seemed to be working in your favor. You released the bag from your clenched hands and scattered to the hallways, searching for San.

You needed someone to rant to, someone who'd listen and maybe satisfy your aching stomach, and she was there, you just needed to recall what classroom she was in. Class.. 1-B? One... You racked your head for the relevant piece of information, limping around the classrooms with both arms hugging your stomach.

"Are you looking for something?"

You whipped your head around to find a blond boy with handsome features gently gazing at you with mild curiosity. He cocked his head slightly, and you realized you had been staring for too long.

"O-oh! Um," you stammered, a little flustered to be in the presence of such an attractive stranger. "I was looking for someone..."

"If you don't mind me asking, who exactly?"

"Someone by the name of Ayumi Sanda... um, you wouldn't happen to know, would you?"

His ears perked. "Ah, she's in my class. Do you want me to lead you there?" his smile was too enticing, and you couldn't help but nod quickly. You followed behind him, thanking the gods for stumbling across this generous, kind human being.

Suddenly you felt another growl churning in your stomach, and you took a sharp breath in embarrassment. There was no way he didn't hear that.

He stopped in his footsteps, and for some reason began to rummage through his bag.

"Here it is..." he picked out what appeared to be something wrapped in clear plastic, and then tossed it into your hands.

You caught it immediately, opening your palms to reveal a pastry that hadn't been opened. Your mouth watered, and the boy gave a small chuckle before wandering off. "Wait –!" you yelled, before a hand grabbed you by the sleeve.

"[Name]! What are you doing here? Lunch is almost over..." San's unexpected presence startled you, waking you up from what seemed to be a dream. But it wasn't. The pastry was still in your hands, and the boy's familiar face was too clearly cemented in your brain.

"You okay?"

"—I think I'm in love."

"What?!"
