A/N: I apologize for the much slower updates recently, mainly because school is starting very soon and I won't have as much time to write. I promise I'll try to make the chapters a bit longer though at this expense!

Winter break without Kyouya felt a little more lonesome than how you originally would of preferred. You'd already gotten used to his annoying presence, but you couldn't help but grudgingly admit that it was boring without his little half-assed retorts once in a while.
You tugged on the hem of your beanie, wandering the streets of Japan with a little bit of a cold. Maybe it was the result of your carelessness, or all those times spent with a sneezing Kyouya. Either way, you shrugged it off. Besides, Christmas was nearing the corner, so who had time to deal with a cold?
You felt the corners of your mouth twitch slightly, daydreaming about a Christmas with Kyouya - but then you mentally slapped yourself and ushered your lingering thoughts away. It's better not to get attached to Kyouya, you sighed, but your actions lately have been saying otherwise.
Stuffing your hands in your two front pockets, you aimlessly walked the streets, hoping to find some inspiration for the list of needed Christmas presents from store displays.
That is, until, a familiar brunette approached your side, carrying a bouquet of flowers and peering down at the same store display you stood at. He didn't seem to notice you, only holding tightly onto the handle of the flowers wearing dark gloves.
His eyes practically screamed sleep deprivation, and his hair was disheveled.
"Hi...karu-san?" You only added the formality because he was an upperclassman, and, well, you've only talked to him twice.
"Huh...?" An inaudible noise of surprise escaped his mouth and he jumped back, the flowers swinging back and forth. He quickly wiped his eyes as if he had just recently cried, and straightened his back. "[Name]-chan! I'm so glad to see you here!" His gloomy eyes lit up brighter than the sun.
"H-hey... Hikaru? Is everything alright?" you questioned, and he proceeded to avert his gaze. You weren't one to prod, but you couldn't keep watching Hikaru in such a depressed state.
"It's nothing." On reflex, he held the flowers in a stronger grip. "I'm just going to see nii-chan."
"Wait... you don't mean..." your eyes widened, assuming the worst from the flowers and the dreary Hikaru.
"E-eh? Oh, he's not dead or anything like that!" he shook his hand nervously, signaling 'no'. "He's just... really sick."
"Sick...?" you repeated the word. It was a word filled with different meanings, and you could only vaguely imagine what condition his brother was in.
"I'm sorry for burdening you with my problems, [Name]-chan," sniffled Hikaru, who once again glanced the other way. "I-"
"I... don't want to see you crying," you mumbled, and met your [eye color] eyes with Hikaru's. "So please, Hikaru, for your brother's sake, be strong."
The commotion of passerbys had once filled your ears, but instead it was like you two were just alone, standing there in front of the gift shop with nothing but the endless silence drowning out all other noise. You watched him for a reaction, a feeling of hope for him shimmering in your eyes.
Hikaru's lack of response snapped you back to reality, realizing you were completely out of line. You abruptly let go and shoved yourself away. "I-I'm sorry for that outburst! I don't know what-"
Warm cotton grasped your left hand, and a mix of happiness and relief washed over. Hikaru smiled brighter than before, calming your quickening heartbeat within seconds. "[Name]-chan, is it okay if I could ask you to come with me?"

A petite nurse motioned with her hand to enter the room. It was dimly lit, but the curtains let through hints of sunshine from outside. The woman said her goodbyes and vanished out the door, leaving Hikaru and you to the sounds of his brother's beeping heart.
He slowly approached the neighboring desk, cluttered with presents and "Get better soon!" cards, each from different people. The brown haired boy set down the bouquet and mumbled a few words under his breath, turning to face his brother.
"Nii-chan," he muttered softly, placing his hands on the end of the bed. His brother stayed unconscious as he was, which you assumed, in a state of being unable to respond. "You have to apologize to [Name]-chan, now... You almost killed her, you know?"
"Wh-what? Hikaru? What are you..."
"I'm sorry for my insolent nii-chan," he said. "He tried to escape the hospital, like the stubborn person he is, you see... And it didn't end up very well for him."
It all clicked. From the moment Sata Kyouya's chest pressed against yours, to the second you crashed into Hikaru Kirishima. The man wearing the hospital gown...
"I'm sorry for what I did, too, [Name]-chan," Hikaru croaked. "I realized you were the girl nii-chan almost hit, and... I-I didn't really want you to find out anything else... I didn't want him to get into anymore trouble... so I tried to distract you. I pretended... to be your friend."
"..." You stood in silence, listening to Hikaru continue to choke on his words, explaining while trembling and shaking hands took over him. Anger, sympathy, sadness and a feeling of betrayal clouded your emotions and you clenched your fists.
"I'm so sorry, [Name]."
You held out your hand and opened your palm.
"Stop crying, Hikaru. You have to be brave, don't you?"
Hikaru's breath hitched. He blinked his tear filled eyes, hesitating whether to accept your open hand. "I..."
"You're late."
A brash voice entered the room, one hand on the doorknob as his red eyes only found yours, just to be glared down with his usual menacing stare. He ignored Hikaru, thrusting his hand forward and locking his fingers with yours, pulling you into the hallway in one swing.
"Did you stalk me all the way-"
His hand tightly wrapped around both your wrists, lifting your arms and pushing you against the wall. Kyouya watched as you squirmed around, nearly ready to give him another mouthful until he pressed his lips against yours.
Suddenly, the world around you slowed down. Your eyes grew heavy, only focused on Kyouya's lips tightly locked with yours, helpless to his touch.
When your lips parted, your eyes flew open. Your cheeks burned brightly, Kyouya seeming unfazed at the situation.
"You are my dog, aren't you?"
