Days passed by slower.
Time seemed to stop whenever you passed him in the hallways, laughing with the crowd around him. It wasn't like him to be so social, but then again, who was that person who looked so much like Kyouya, standing there? You missed him...
How could you face him after what happened? He didn't acknowledge you anymore, nonetheless reply to your texts. This was his way of saying goodbye, and it hurt. If he just came out and broke it off, you would feel more satisfied. At least then, you would understand what you've done wrong.
You slipped on your shoes and closed your locker, before something struck you as odd. Opening it once again, you found nothing unusual... No threats. How long has it been like this? How long... were you unaware?
Without Kyouya... everything else had been a blur. You were too focused on his absence to ever notice that he'd been doing it for your sake. Did the notes stop because he stopped being around you? But why... why was he being so painstakingly oblivious to your feelings?
Your cheeks felt wet. You lifted your hand and felt a drop on your fingertips, and you immediately wiped your eyes with your sleeve, hoping no one saw.
"I saw that, [Name]."
You turned to face San. Once she saw your puffy eyes, concern flickered on her face, and she reached out and grabbed your hand. "I know you're still... upset about him. But this isn't helping, you crying here, doing nothing. You have to confront him again," she said. "And this time... no violence."
"Right... right," you sniffled, smiling a little. "Wait... c-confront him?"
She dragged you to the front of the school, where you saw a glimpse of Kyouya... and someone else. "Hey, is that—" San began, her eyes widening, but her voice was drowned out by your sudden thoughts.
The girl was holding his hand, her dark red hair and blue eyes giving her an air of beauty. She was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous, and next to Kyouya.
I guess he really was done with me after all, huh?
"[Name]! Where are-!" San yelled.
Panicking, you ran, tears still streaming down. Out of sight, out of school, back home, where you could sob into a pillow and forget about Kyouya. Forget that he ever existed. "Nothing good really could come from being with someone like him" felt like just a unfair assumption, but now, you couldn't help but wonder if it was right.
Without a second thought, you pulled out your cell, reminded by the ignored texts that he wouldn't care anymore. So you proceeded. It was difficult to type the words, but once you sent the text, you felt a burden lifted.
"Let's break up."
Lying down once again on your bed, you let the warmth of your covers take over, closing your eyes gently.* * *
"Hey. Idiot. I-d-i-o-t."You managed to open your eyes, rising up from the bed to let out a yawn, before turning to the source of noise and seeing...
"Kyouya?!" you backed away, only luring Kyouya in closer.
He crept onto your bed, face so close that you flushed red. "What the hell's the meaning of this?" he shoved his phone screen into your face while growling.
"That's... wait, how did you even get into my house?"
"Your front door was opened, dumbass."
"It... it was?" you backtracked into your thoughts to recollect when that occurred, before Kyouya grabbed your wrist and pinned you down on the bed, his breathing growing heavier by the second.
"What... are you just going to leave me like that?" he muttered softly, red eyes drawing you in.
Flustered, you responded, "L-leave you? You were the one ignoring me! Never responding to my texts, acting like a different person, hanging out with other... girls."
"Tch, I was trying to find out who wrote those threats and make them eat their words. I guess I got too caught up... but the slap really hurt, dummy."
Huh?
Your anger with him subsided. "But then, the texts?"
"My... phone broke," he sighed.
"And that... girl..."
"That girl? Which one?" he smirked. You glared back.
"The one that looked like a model. Red hair..."
He nearly choked, loosening his grasp on your wrists. "You mean my sister?"
And everything clicked. Your worries disappeared, and you felt a new sense of calm. Something you haven't felt in the past week.
"You have a sister?"
"Yeah she's... really annoying. This morning she was clawing onto my hand to let her stay at my place," he groaned, moving in closer to your ear.
"H-hey, Kyouya, that's...!" He bit your earlobe, nuzzling into your neck.
"Still going to break up?"
"Yes. Asshole."
"Tch."
"Could... you ask me out again? ...And properly, this time?"
"...Fine."
You smiled.
"[Name], go out with me."
"That's such a weird way to ask someone out!"
"I could take it back."
You reached out and wrapped him around your arms, bringing him closer and laughing. "Of course I will."
