Chase was dumbfounded when she saw my face. Y'know, the pale, baggy-red-eyed, irritated bag that it was? She acted like she saw a zombie at first, but then she moved closer to me.
Chase: What happened? What the FUCK?! Is that a rash or... w-what?
Doink: It's normal for you to lose color when you become pale, however this... is a bit excessive. Do remember it is stage 4 genetic lung cancer that we are dealing with. A hard diagnosis, and... with all due respect.
Y/N: Go for it.
Doink: You do only have six months, but with each day closer to your deadline, the probability of death grows less in your favor.
Y/N: Ah, I can see how you two get along... Thanks for giving me the inability to sleep tonight.
Doink: Apologies...
Y/N: Don't be. It's true.
Chase: Enough with the doom and gloom... I want to help you out as much as I can today. I think I can do a lot better than Chase. Oh, you should've seen Seri's face...
Y/N: What happened?
Chase: Seri asked if Mox got you to bed safely at night. Mox said she didn't... and said you could handle yourself.
Y/N: She took my word...
Chase: Yeah, she trusts you... but Seri... had her doubts...
Y/N: Her doubts were right. I tried getting in my wheelchair, fell, then slept on the floor last night. I don't mind being babied even more, but I just felt horrible from Mox. After last night, I really should just accept all the help you guys can give. Even the... weird stuff...
Chase: Helping a cripped-up buddy to bed is NOT weird. Serenity got her leg blown off one time during her early stages. I had no problem carrying her to the couch or to bed.
Y/N: Noted...
Chase: I got you...
She places her hand on my cheek, then lightly slaps it, not hard at all. What causes my face to flush is her smirk, followed by her gaze, and that little... nudge from her thumb against my cheek.
Y/N: T-thanks...
Chase: Yeah, you won't need a mask this season... You got a good excuse.
Chase backs away, letting go of me to roll me to the work area. I turn on all the lights, then guardians come up to the counter, whilst some flood through the doorway. It's going to be crazy today with the mask stuff.
I must say, Chase's speed is an upgrade compared to Mox's, however her usefulness when it comes to technology and hospitality falters heavily. Mox's hospitality was also lacking, but Chase is straight-up rude to people. She makes an effective tool and material grabber, as well as a holder in case I need a guardian to be posed.
However, words cannot explain it. When I ask for something, it's there before I get the words out, like she teleports to one side of the room, then quickly teleports back. I know she has no access to blinking, nor anything of the sort, but her speed is crazy as a stunning huntress.
Stunning huntress? I meant hunter... hunter... not a huntress... clear your mind, Y/N...
Y/N...
I've felt strange ever since Mox and I had that... moment, and now I don't know what to think. It was a feeling I either haven't felt in a really, really, really long time, or a feeling that I've never felt once before. I'm a stranger to love, at least, the romantic kind. I'm willing to suspect Mox is too. She was clueless, paralyzed, more than I was. Someone give her some fanfiction or something...
