Y/N: So, how have things been, Mox? *Cough*
Mox doesn't answer, just grunts softly under her breath as I begin the shaping process for her helmet ornament. I'm done measuring her head and positioning her hair, and I've moved onto fitting it to the helmet of her choice. I have the ghost looking at it from an angle, making sure it's lined up with the formatter, a machine almost like a copier, that takes a model of a helmet, and prints it to a physical one.
Y/N: I know leading a fireteam can get rough sometimes... but you'll be back out there to round them up in no time... don't sweat this...
Mox: What is your goal, Y/N?
Y/N: What? What goal? I've known you for how long, 10 years, right?
Mox's Ghost: Right...
Y/N: I hardly see you guys. You guys are always out and about, and this Witness person meeting his end just gives you more free time for stuff like this... I'm just saying... would it hurt to catch up with an old friend?
Mox: I was going to say something, but I'll spare you the gripe...
Y/N: Well, what was it going to be?
She looks away, sighing as her dark purple hair whips to her side from that turn.
Mox: Nothing... How are you with my helmet?
Y/N: Almost there... and just so you know, I'm open to chat if you need anything, anything at all.
Mox: Fine, you asked for this... Considering your illness, I don't think you'll be around long enough for my kind of needs...
Y/N: Okay... I'll ignore that first part and the fact that you somehow know... and just say that I do care about the guardians I polish. Even if you don't care about me. I might have cancer, I might not be immortal, but I have a heart, now take your stupid helmet.
The ornament file gets coded into her ghost as I try my hardest to slam it into her chest. Of course, with my weak strength and her overwhelming resilience, it really just looks like I put it up against her, and she didn't even move. She looks at me, at eye level, with a slight frown. That frown turns into a slight smirk, and the ghost transmats the glimmer and silver to my robe.
Glimmer being the currency we use. We can also transmute it into literally any other currency, but I don't have a ghost that can do that, so I just use the glimmer as it is. Silver on the other hand is found or blessed upon you. Very rare, very expensive, and the only currency Tess accepts, so they sometimes give it to me.
Mox leaves the room without saying a word, and her ghost looks back before leaving.
Mox's ghost: We're sorry... I apologize about her...
Y/N: Don't be... I don't blame you, I'm sure the guardian life gets hard.
Mox's ghost: Truth is... I know it's against code to tell you this...
Mox shouts from outside. She's in a hurry, and from her golden gaze in the doorway I know she's hoping to get away. She's going to realize that if I don't get anything out of her, one of her fireteam members will. Fireteam Phantom is tightly bound, so she's not free.
Mox: Come on, ghost!
Ghost: She's unwell... okay goodbye!
They both leave me in peace for a couple moments until a few more guardians come needing things done. Kenneth was a guardian who Mathias found on the moon on his missions. Mathias is a brand-new guardian, just waking up last week, and on his trip to the moon, he saw another guardian with his ghost, wearing armor that was hundreds of years old. Mathias is getting premade shaders as a gift.
