**TW: SH, abuse, suicidal attempts and thoughts, Roger**
Autumn was sitting in her room, writing a poem in her notebook, this was a notebook her father had never found. She heard footsteps coming and quickly hid the book, having known and remembered these footsteps. Her father walked in; his heavy footsteps was enough to throw Autumn off. "Yes father?" Autumn simply asked, immediately tensing at the sight of him. "What are you doing sulking in your room? Unless it's for studying, why don't you spend time with your family?" Roger's sound was loud, his voice deep, and most definitely haunting for Autumn. "Yea, I was studying." She grabbed her schoolbook, pretending to be studying. "Good, get another 'B' and I swear, I'll get to you before Reece can even think of getting in the way." He stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Honestly, the last thing Autumn wanted to do was actually spend time with her family. She really only cared about Reece, her older brother.
She finished writing her poem about 5 minutes later, when she heard footsteps again. She didn't try to hide her notebook, seeming as she knew it was her older brother. "Hey Aut, you excited for tomorrow?" Autumn's eyebrows raised. "What's tomorrow?" Her older brother looked shocked. His mouth was open, and his eyes were wide. "You're joking, right?" Reece leaned against the door; Autumn still being confused. "Please, enlighten me big brother, what's tomorrow?" Reece was still stunned. "Aut, you're 13 tomorrow?" Reece knew Autumn was never a big birthday person, but she would surely remember her own birthday, right? "Oh." Was all Autumn responded with, before turning her attention back to her poems. Reece walked over and snatched her book. "What's this?" Reece smirked. Autumn heard her father's footsteps again and went to stop Reece, but it was too late, as he had already started reading them out and their father had already stepped into the room.
"Her hair was red, but her eyes ocean blue, I would run around the whole wide world just to end up with you.
Her skin was so pale, and her freckles so bright. Oh God the things I would do to keep her for one single night.
Though my luck and dreams have failed, as she is taken by one. But I will continue to love her even when she is not mine.
To me and my brother, she is ever so kind. Ms Amelia Mae Roberts, shall... be mine..?"
Reece's voice drifted off at the end, seeing the final name. Amelia Mae Roberts. His girlfriend? "You like Amelia!?" Both siblings turned around to the powerful voice projecting off the walls in the room. Roger was standing there in the doorway, pure disgust on his face. "Autumn, you are fully aware that Mia is a woman, correct?" His voice was emotionless from what Autumn could tell, but Reece knew better. There was anger and disgust in his voice, he could easily identify it. "Reece. Leave your sister's room and go to yours." Reece was hesitant, but left, giving Autumn the 'shout if you need me.' Reece left and went to his room, keeping the door open, only to be heartbroken when his dad shut Autumn's door.
Autumn was still sitting at her desk, watching her father roll up his sleeves. "So- you think it's okay to like, not only a girl- but your brother's girlfriend?" He walked closer to her, which caused her to grip her seat harder. "Answer me!" His hand connected with the young girl's face, a grunt leaving her mouth. She rubbed the red mark which was now implanted on her cheek. "I'm waiting." Roger crossed his arms, waiting for her answer. "I don't know..." Those were the only words the girl could even think of. Reece heard more shouting from his sister's room and started to get worried. She was only 12, she couldn't help who she liked. It had been 45 minutes since Reece had left, and he did start to worry. He was about to go to sleep when he heard crying and small screams coming from Autumn's room. As a natural instinct, he got up and ran to her room, only to see the door already open. He ran inside and saw a mess of her room. He knew this would throw her off, since she had always been a bit of a neat freak, but he didn't care about that right now. He quickly scanned the room. Broken glass, books everywhere, and the most crucial detail. His father's belt, laying right next to his bloodied-up sister. She was crying in pain, blood running down her face and body. She was gripping her wrist tight, which he could identify as sprained. He rushed by her side and scooped her up, bringing her to the bathroom and started cleaning her up. He then put her to bed and went to his own room, knowing what his father would do if he tried to help her even more.
Autumn couldn't sleep. The pain was unreal. The thought of everything was too much for her 12-year-old brain to handle. She looked around. She hadn't cleaned up her room yet, she wasn't bothered. Her eyes landed on one thing. Glass. The broken glass from her picture frame that her father had thrown across the room. Autumn got up out of bed and walked over. She picked up a bigger piece and looked at it. She threw it on her bed and closed her bedroom door. She went back to her bed and picked it up. She took a deep breath and placed in threw her skin, dragging it slowly, absorbing the pain. She repeated the action to many times to count. It wasn't enough. She moved to other parts of her body. Thighs, stomach, her back, anywhere she could. It still wasn't enough to please her. She took the final step, something she'd been planning to do a long time ago.
Reece was always a light sleeper, so when he heard movement from Autumn's room, he woke up. He knew Autumn should've been sleeping, since she was more of a heavy sleeper than Reece was. She had gotten it from their father, who was also a very heavy sleeper. He heard the commotion and decided to check it out. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. Luckily, he had learned out to lockpick doors when he was younger. He picked the lock and walked in, putting the lockpick in his pocket. "Hey Aut, what's with all the commo-." Reece froze in his tracks once he finally looked up and let out a blood curling scream. His father woke up and ran to the sound. "What the bloody hell happened boy!?" Roger hadn't even seen why Reece was on the floor crying. Reece simply pointed up, and when Roger looked up, he could feel the colour drain off his face. "Autumn...?" Roger's voice had finally softened, as Reece stood up and ran to his sister. "Autumn!" Reece's voice had broken completely, as he ran to his sister. "Autumn! Please answer me!" Reece begged his sister, who was hanging by a rope from her roof, and her face was going blue. There was a sudden bell ringing. Both males looked towards Autumn's alarm clock. 'Happy 13th birthday! Happy 13th birthday!' It kept repeating, as the reality hit them. They had to save their little girl before it was too late, or she wouldn't be able to remember her 13th birthday.
