— 34. Mikael
When it came time for Davina's date, Cadence had slyly moved toward the bar, hoping not to be seen by Kaleb. She smiled at how excited Davina looked when she sat at the table with him, refusing to think about her past actions. We'd forget about it in the morning.
She didn't regret what she had done in the slightest, it was just fun. But it did make her feel weird to know the girl who was like a little sister to her was now on a date with a man she slept with.
She really did know how to pick her bedmates.
"Thank you," She mumbled as her coworker poured her a glass. She turned, her eyes not tearing from the two. She assumed it to be going well, given the way they were smiling.
Davina seemed to have gotten a call and Cadence frowned, watching as the girl left to take it.
She turned back toward the bar, not wanting to make it obvious she was staring and Kaleb realize.
"We really have to stop bumping into each other," A familiar voice spoke up and Cadence dramatically groaned as she buried her face in the wood counter.
"Small world, it seems. What are the odds you're on a date with my friend Davina?" She replied in a threatening tone and turned to glance at him.
"Small world, indeed," He joked and noticed the way Cadence stared at him suspiciously.
"Nothing happened between us," She reminded him lowly and Kaleb smirked, raising his arms in mock surrender, "You say anything otherwise--"
"I suppose this is when you threaten me, right?" Kaleb taunted and laughed as she prepared to make a comeback.
The sound of numerous chairs creaking, Cadence turned in concern. She frowned, noticing how the customers all seemed to be moving to leave.
"Cadence?" Davina called out and Cadence averted her attention to the girl as she approached them, "What's happening?"
"Some fellow just announced they were closing for a party," Kaleb announced after eavesdropping on other people.
"Which doesn't make sense. I'd know about it, I work here," Cadence complained and turned to Davina uneasily, gesturing toward the door, "We need to leave. Now."
Davina nodded in agreement and turned to head toward the exit.
"And what's your rush, sweetheart?" An unknown man stepped in their path before they could flee, "Why don't you two stay and party with us?"
As the man's eyes glowed yellow, Cadence groaned loudly in annoyance. "Why am I not surprised? I should've smelled wet dog all over this," She commented and yanked Davina behind her, siphoning a bit of power as she did so.
