Back in the hotel room, Julian flips on a warm light, and I immediately kick off my shoes, feeling the soft carpet under my feet.
The glow casts a comfortable vibe, making everything feel more real and yet dreamlike at the same time.
I turn and catch him watching me with a small, almost private smile, like he's savoring every second.
"Today was perfect," I say, finally breaking the silence as I let myself sink onto the edge of the bed. "Thank you, really."
Julian walks over, and without a word, he sits beside me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and pulling me close.
He rests his chin on the top of my head, and I feel his chest rise and fall with a steady calm that makes me relax even more. "You deserve to feel like this every day," he murmurs, his voice gentle. "And I'm glad I get to be the one to see it."
I look up at him, grinning. "Oh, so this is all for you, huh?"
He laughs, a low sound that vibrates through his chest. "Yeah, maybe I like seeing you happy. Can't say I've had a lot of reasons to smile lately, so I guess you could say you're helping me, too."
He shifts his hand to my cheek, brushing his thumb over my skin, the touch tender and grounding.
We stay like that for a while, in easy silence, until he finally leans back, stretching out and pulling me down beside him.
As I rest my head against his chest, he traces soft patterns on my back, each touch sending a wave of warmth through me.
It's like he's in no rush—like he's just as content as I am to savor this moment without any expectations.
After a while, Julian's voice breaks the quiet. "I was thinking... maybe tomorrow, we do something spontaneous. Like, no plans at all—just whatever we feel like."
A spark of excitement flickers to life in me. "So, you mean... no schedule, no reservations, just us wandering around? I like the sound of that."
"Good," he says, his voice laced with a rare lightness. "Then that's the plan. Or, well... non-plan, I guess." He chuckles, and I find myself joining him, our laughter filling the room.
We drift off to sleep in each other's arms, his steady breaths lulling me, a reminder of everything good and hopeful.
Sabrina's still nestled on my chest, her soft breathing in sync with the quiet of the morning. I nudge her lightly, brushing a few stray strands of her hair back as I murmur her name.
She groans, barely opening her eyes, and rolls off me reluctantly before finally pushing herself up and heading to the bathroom, her steps slow and sleepy.
I can't help but smile as I watch her sift through her clothes, picking out a pair of jean shorts and a crop top. She disappears back into the bathroom, and when she returns, she looks fresh and vibrant, her golden hair brushed to perfection, framing her face in a way that almost makes me forget to breathe.
There's something so simple but beautiful about her this morning—like she doesn't need to try.
I take my turn to wash up, splashing some water on my face to wake myself up. A quick change and I'm back out, catching her leaning over her makeup bag, a familiar compact in her hand.
"You ready to go?" I ask, leaning casually against the doorframe, though my eyes keep finding her in the mirror.
She glances up with a small smile. "Almost, just need a bit of makeup."
I shake my head, crossing the room to her. "You don't need it, Sab," I say softly, my gaze meeting hers. "You look perfect without it."
She pauses, looking at me with this mix of surprise and softness in her eyes. The faintest blush rises to her cheeks, and she gives a small, shy laugh.
"Okay" she whispers, her fingers loosening around the compact.
I reach out, taking her hand in mine and giving it a gentle squeeze. "Seriously. Let's just go as we are and enjoy the day."
She nods, a spark of excitement lighting up her face, and I feel this swell of contentment just seeing her like that. There's no need for anything extra—just us, taking it all in, no pretenses.
She tucks her makeup back into her bag, and with one last glance in the mirror, she looks up at me, ready to go.
We head out, and I keep my hand wrapped around hers, feeling that quiet thrill of knowing she's here, beside me, ready to take on whatever the day brings.
