Rafe and Jazmine were both in the bathroom. Rafe was packing their beach bag while Jazmine was putting on her swimsuit.
After the incident at the country club, Rafe quickly came back, just a few minutes after Jazmine. It had been two days since Jazmine had spoken to him, barely addressing him at all. Some might call it childish, but it was the only way Jazmine knew how to make Rafe understand that he had messed up, aside from being confrontational.
He had apologized for not defending her, and later, made it clear to Topper and Ruthie to never speak to her like that again.
After many pleadings, Jazmine finally spoke to him, just to tell him to get out of their room and sleep downstairs, but it was a start.
"You could try talking to me," Rafe said. "We're going to see our friends, it's a nice afternoon."
"Your friends," Jazmine emphasized. "I hate every single one of them."
"At least you're talking to me now," Rafe said with a smirk.
"Yeah, well, don't think I've forgotten how you didn't even defend me against those two idiots," Jazmine replied.
"I apologized, didn't I? I didn't know what to say, okay? After you left, I talked to him, alright? Let's not talk about it anymore. Topper's a good guy, stop giving him a hard time every chance you get," Rafe said, shrugging.
"You know what? I'm not even going to respond to that," Jazmine muttered, rolling her eyes.
Still, she had to talk to him. Sofia had mentioned the other night that Hollis' project was starting to make waves, and even though she and Rafe weren't on the best terms, business was business.
"Sofia mentioned Hollis' project to me," Jazmine said, as she packed her things. "Apparently, the word's starting to spread at the country club."
"I'm not surprised," Rafe replied. "Now that it's becoming more well-known, everyone wants in."
"She won't accept it. You can dream on. She wants me to be the only one to invest; she sees my potential," he added confidently.
Jazmine walked up to him, holding her bikini top against her chest, the straps hanging behind her. Rafe smiled at her before she turned her back, silently asking him to tie it.
"I don't trust her," she said. "She doesn't want anyone to invest. Don't you find that strange?"
"Why is it you never trust people?" Rafe asked, tying the strings behind her neck.
Jazmine turned around slowly, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, right," he said, realizing.
He placed his hands on her shoulders, lightly playing with the straps of her bikini top.
"Look, if you don't want to do this, just tell me. The money—it's ours, not just mine, okay?"
"I trust my instincts, and I'm telling you, something's off about her," Jazmine replied firmly.
"Alright then, we're not going to do it," Rafe said.
"Thanks," Jazmine replied, stepping back to finish packing her bag.
